Hello, is this application comparable to ISTA? can it erase the fault codes of all the fault codes of each module and can it be used for maintenance procedures (example: replacement of dkg DTC gearbox oil). THANKS

No it doesn't have all of the ISTA functions. However I believe it can erase those codes without issue. You can email bimmergeeks (maker of protool) to confirm this.

I just wanted to let you guys know I just recieved my BM3 wifi adapter in today and tested it with protool, and it works perfectly! So if you were looking to buy a wifi adapter I would highly recommend the BM3 wifi version over the currently available models (review coming soon which will explain exactly why).

That's a tuning feature, so protool won't be able to do those things. You'd need something like bootmod3.

I'm not sure if it supports french, you could download the app and play around with it if you'd like, it's free to do so. You only pay when you need to code.

ok thanks for the info. In my opinion I will just take the license for diagnosis because I already have BIMMERCODE, but I must be sure that PROTOOL can erase all the fault codes (DME and others) before buying it.

It'll take them a bit to reply. What do you mean information for the family codes? I don't understand.

It should be able to do that, because it'll be able to read all fault codes the car has and clear them. Fault codes will come back if there truly is an error, just like on ISTA.

No problem at all, glad I could help.

Yes this is the V3 adapter (has the sleep mode), the V2A is the cheaper version without the sleep mode.

Ok-- for someone mostly coding illiterate (I've only used BimmerCode)-- what does this do that Bimmercode won't?

Specifically?

And use small, easy to understand words-- coding illiterate, remember?

Not talking smack-- honestly curious if this is something I'd use on my M2C-- I'm an Apple guy, so I'd have to pick up an old Android.

TIA--

Vo (vehicle order) coding of all kinds, and coding things like ghas, eps, dsc. There also alot more that protool can do, because it can code anything esys can and that list is extremely extensive that it's impossible to list them all.

Ok, put it like this-- what would I want to use Protocol for on an M2C?

i.e. What are people coding *that can't be coded with Bimmercode* on an M2C?

TIA.

Again that's a hard question to answer because there's so many things that one would/could code - in particular with VO coding. But again things like the eps, ghas, egs, dsc etc are not available on bimmercode but available on protool.

This isn’t an exhaustive list. From my understanding, you can code these sorts of things with Protool that you can’t with Bimmercode:
  • Fancy anti-dazzle headlight features that come standard with the adaptive LED headlamps in Europe, but are disallowed in the USA
  • diff and stability control settings (that cause the car to handle slip differently) from other cars like the M2CS or M4 GTS
  • power steering modes (for a different steering feel) from other BMW performance cars
  • etc.

Just to help clarify for flybigjet, I don't think you will want to code any of that on an M2C IMO.

1. The anti-dazzle may or may not be safe to enable due to hardware differences between EU and NA hardware (many threads on it).

2. 98% sure the M2C already comes coded to F87CS for diff and DSC.

3. Steering is already set to F87CS, though it's possible you could try the F82 settings but seems like it's probably worse.

Definitely makes sense if you have an OG M2.
