No. The OG M4 was not a great drive IMHO. The M2 is.

I am tempted to wait. I'd love to hear more about LED lights though, and whether they make a significant difference.

Mine is due in june but I'm hoping for a delay so I get the LCI. A delay will also allow me to fill up my piggy bank in time !

So if you do not like the LCI changes, do you buy a used pre-LCI then?
Because I ordered mine in January and will probably get it in
August and I'll get an LCI most likely.

Hopefully they don't change the looks, I ordered in hopes of getting the pre-LCI.

By the time you get the LCI the new 2018/9 m2 will be around the corner. All this waiting to get an M2 at the end of the summer is a waste of a good car. But everyone to their own!

When my allocation came up a couple of months ago, I pushed out production to what they thought would be the first of the 2018 MY with delivery in August. 2 days ago however, I received an email from my rep saying that an allocation opened up for a 2017 MY with delivery in august, and that they now thought that the 2018 MY wouldn't be delivered until October or later. I just went ahead with the 2017 (LBB) as headlights and tail lights wont make enough difference to prevent me from enjoying it this summer. Just hoping that delivery comes a bit sooner than august.

-needs either bigger turbo or s55
-needs to be 6mt
-needs wider wheels and tires
-may need CF roof, depending
-needs more aggressive suspension, perhaps M coilover setup

to name a few things. if not, i will get a 991s. i am trying to get a 991.2 gt3 allocation, so if i get that i will drop out of my CS slot
Other than 6mt and weight, this sounds like an M3/M4.

I agree

Black Gold you should be saying this the other way around.

" I'm waiting for a Porsche but might get an M2 CS "

But you also get the now mandatory reverse camera on the 18MY. I'll be taking delivery in September at SCPC. Hopefully this long winter results in a longer summer/summer-like weather :/... Being that I live in Michigan ANYthing is possible when it comes to the climate (Good and bad..).

Good luck with the extended summer - one can always hope! Being in Michigan, you are pretty much an honorary Canadian (weatherwise).

Be interesting to see what the MY2018 pricing will be, with the cost of LCI changes and any additions to the base equipment.

Why buy now while you can get the 2018 with new LED lights at the end of the year ?!

Oh wait...
Why buy the 18 on November while you can wait for a year with the 2019 new engine?!

But hey, since you waited for 2 years why don't you just hold for the all new 2020 M2 (GC maybe) it's just around the corner...end of 2019 ! Personally am waiting for the 2022 model

Ok let's be serious here, yesterday i went to the main dealer and the M division sales manager told me the 2018 will come the showroom on November with NO engine upgrade, asked him about LED new colors and other changes he said all new build information will be available between July and August. Now am on the waiting list for November.

How does that happen? I was hoping to get one since mid last year, and here in Dallas the line is still 33 deep according to the dealer and its a big dealership.

According to my dealer, BMW is increasing production of the M2 for the 2017 model year as of last week (supposedly 800 more units for USA). That I believe based on the rash of allocations that seem to be available suddenly.

They also have no concrete details on what exactly will change for the LCI (likely headlights and taillights and some other minor things), but there is no expectation of an engine change or HP bump. That I also believe, but wouldn't be too surprised if there is a more substantial change than expected. BMW has a history of screwing people buying just before the LCI.

I'll bet if you shop around and are willing to buy from an out of state dealer, you can find an M2 for 2017. If you are doing a Performance Center Deliver, it is even easier.

I ordered one locally yesterday. Dealer got 4 allocations on Friday. As of yesterday one was left. This is in SoCal where msrp deals have been virtually impossible (without a bunch of add on cf bits, etc). So I think this last pre-lci run might see some spares floating around as enthusiasts wait on MY18.
