Some of the answers come across as guessing.

The only strait answer we got him is the fact that all the MP parts are dealer/port installed. Which was obvious to me, since I never heard of the factory installing an aftersale accessory. |

Hard to say when its translated. Certain words/phrases aren't like for like. 25-30k to make the car still weigh more than the LCI hurts though. Cant imagine many shelling out for the full whack. Shows the panels are pretty much jewellery rather than dynamically transforming. |

I doubt a lot of people in USA will be getting a CF. Having a dealer hack up your brand new M2 is a big issue.

Don't think they will sell too many CF roofs then, which I guess is fine with BMW.
Maybe for MY2020 if they have a CS version or whatever with the parts factory installed they will add the option to factory install it on the Comp car. I would still consider port installed I guess, because if it's fucked up you can harass them with the warranty. If they mess it up they might have to get you a new car. |

Hmm $85k pimped out m2. We can get a used m3 competition for less with better leather, carbon, etc. I'll be curious how the options add up. The hood and trunk will be easy DIY install, unless they require paint. I believe I read "prepped for paint" is that true?
Will be most curious to see if the brakes will be included in the US version... gotta have those red brakes no matter what! |

i must assume that the dealers will also be painting the bonnet and boot lids locally and that is equally troublesome. so likely i will forego those as well. |

On a separate visit, they backed into something and scratched my rear bumper, then tired to offer to fix it for a fee. Haven’t been back since....had much better luck with autobahn in ft worth.

If the CF roof and hood cost like 10k installed, I am guessing you have to itemize that 'customization' with your insurance company..
I doubt they'll feel obligated to pay for thousands of dollars in extra customization if you didn't properly documented and underwrite it accordingly... |

Ask me how I know ... ? I'm the guy that gets to review your dealer build sheet. BELIEVE me.. it's worth taking sixty seconds to scan or fax it to your insurer. Don't be lazy here and expect that your insurance company is omnipotent .. |

Edit: Not sure if this is true (maybe you can clarify) but I have a feeling an insurance company would jack up the quote if they saw, let's say, $90K invoice/window sticker for a $65K car. That's why I'd rather not share my window sticker/invoice with them unless I have to. In the event of an accident, they usually ask you for the receipts of those parts and a window sticker or invoice is sufficient. |
