Are the automatic High Beams worthwhile? I find that in most cases they they work very well. In my view there are only a couple of downsides. One is that they are not always as quick as I would be to turn on. Also, they sometimes turn on and right off again when they spot an oncoming car in situations where I would not have turned them on at all because I could see an oncoming car's lights in the power lines overhead. With that said, the best part is that they never ever miss turning off when there is an oncoming car or when you are closing the gap on a car that's well ahead of you. For that reason, and that reason alone I think they are worth it.

Thoughts?

For me the verdict is still out on this and rain sensing wipers. Not enough time spent using either, so a fair assessment would not be reasonable at this point.

Rain sensing wipers work very well.

But: The light that tells you they are on, is not very visible!

You are right, I can not see the light, it is blocked by the steering wheel, at least on our X1 anyway. Only tried them once on the M2 so far....

The learning curve is so much faster on all of these options when you are using the car as a daily driver. Today I was out and it got warmer then usual here for this time of the year and thought I had set up the auto venting/timed window opening using the key fob and it didn't work. Oh well, back to the drawing board....

I like the auto high beams. Can't comment about the rain sensing wipers as it rarely rains here.

The auto high beam is great if you drive on roads with no street lights.

I dislike them - they work fine going to low beam but I hate that slight delay they have returning to high. Some larger signs can trigger the low beam also. Operating them manually is annoying so I much prefer to do it all myself.

They work fine and I would never pay extra for them.

Turn on the high beams by pushing the stalk away from you, then hit the "A" button on the bottom left of the stalk.

Bottom bottom at end of left stalk. I think . Optional in other countries and part of exec package here I think.

Agree. Work well, but wouldn't check that box on purpose

The delay to high beam takes entirely too long.

I hate auto high beams alone on my F30, however high beam AND adaptive combo works very well I must say... most of the time the high beam would be kept on one side even when incoming traffic arrive.. you can see it just avoids the cars by moving away... quite nice thing.

I love and only use my auto highs on canyon roads. Don't have time to be switching manually

Talking of automatic windscreen wipe, what happens when you get in your car on a freezing cold day and you can see fine through the windscreen until the wiper blades are operated and they leave a nasty smear which the washer canīt remove because itś frozen solid ?

The auto sensing wiper feature needs to be reset every time the ignition is shut off. Also will sense frozen wipers and turn off feature. If I could only see the light now....

Believe the main control knob on the dash has to be in the left/adaptive position as well.

I am very pleased with the High Beam Assist + Adaptive Head Lights combo.

Works well. Recommended. Fascinating to see the 'wall of light' swiveling around. Much improved compared to the High Beam Assist of my 1M.
