This is so true. That's exactly how I felt in an F80. Have you noticed that whenever you see a video of someone driving an F80 with intent, they have that look of fixed concentration like they're doing long division? You just spend so much managing the car and trying not to die, or kill someone else, that there's very little room for fun. It's just too serious and clinically efficient for me as a daily driver, which is why the M2 is a godsend.

Starting to read about how others have taken delivery and are buying mods is making it oh so much harder to wait. I am still 3 months away!

I know what you mean about the wait and we all went through its painful experience.

I ended up hanging a Calendar in the dam laundry and marked of each day as it happened.

It helped me but don't know about you?

Thanks about the Kidney Grill Prod....

Hey guys. I've read a lot about iDrive and CarPlay on the general discussions and navigation sub-forums. It seems as though there will be different options available for those in Europe and the Americas, but I was wondering if any Aussie's have been able to spec that onto their future builds? If so, when is you car expected to be built? I am going to try to give my dealership a call when I get a free moment to see if my car is will have these features, but I do not see them on the contract I have signed...

I asked my dealer this the other day, and this was his reply:

"All cars from July production will receive the upgrade, so good news is yes your car will have this feature"

I'm scheduled for a week 32 (3rd week in august) build, counting down the days!

Well it's been about 2 weeks since I picked the car up and am still nursing it through the painful first 2000 kms trying to vary loads and rpms etc but I can feel the engine getting smoother so I'm now up to 550kms . So far the car has exceeded my expectations by far, I was looking for a car that was as fun to drive as the E92 M3 but also with a little more torque than the E92 to get out of corners (or spinning wheels up) that tiny bit faster. The M2 is such a fun car to drive it is one of those cars that really does have a sense of occasion when you drive it, you know whenever you get behind the wheel its going to be a a great drive because the M2 feels agile and playful. That's not to say its perfect my only gripes are the seating position is a little high for my taste, the lack of an oil temperature gauge and it's not really a gripe but the steering is not as telegraphic as an E92 M3 but that being said it's like saying that a boxer is like floyd when you want Ali. So it ain't bad but when the last M3 was so good it's hard to take. But I will say it's miles better than steering in the F80 M3 as I have spent a bit of time in an F80 before getting the M2. The F80 M3 feels like driving a missile it like hang on and try keep it straight, whereas the M2 will allow you to play with it and change line in that corner its never intimidating in the way the F80 M3 is. So the M2 has really delivered what I wanted in a car, I wanted a car that was useable and drivable and never felt like it wanted to kill me a car where you did more than just light the wick and hang on.
These are my thoughts so far and I am learning more about how this car everyday but I think I am going to have to reserve final judgement until I get the car out on track. I have joined the BMW drivers club of NSW and as soon as I get through my 2000kms I will start doing some of their events so I'm really looking forward to that.
Interesting.

I have to disagree about the steering compared to my old e92 (M3 non ZCP). Although artificial, the steering in sport plus seems to be very very good for an electric setup. After driving my old e92, the new GT3 and the M2 I think the weighting and feel of the M2 setup is better than the e92. My issue with the e92 is the inconsistency of the weighting through the different modes- nothing was ever right.

I also love the manual shift, but as others have mentioned, the clutch is very light, and perhaps too long. The noise is excellent below 4,500rpm (especially with the ESP off)- very reminiscent of a GT2.

All in all, very happy at ~340km in.

Yes. Sold my GT4 allocation and will keep this and some money.

Yeah each to their own I liked the steering on the e92 just felt right to me, but it has been quite a while since I have last driven one. In the meantime I've driven a CLA45 an F80 M3 and an Audi S7 and I must say the M2's feel and steering is a much better in comparison to all of these.
Anyway is anyone going to join the BMW drivers club because given the events they hold and for the cost it sounds like a great deal. I joined last week and will hopefully get to some events soon.

I have only seen one car in the wild (in Sydney's east)- a black DCT.

All the others have been demonstrator cars. There seems to be more on carsales than on the roads!

Very very nice :-)

I haven't seen any around yet! There will soon be a mineral grey one too.

I got confirmation of my build, after hearing news it had been 'pushed back a month' in reality it was only a week - it was always scheduled for July, but is now for the first week of August! Can't wait.

Try giving SouthernBM a call in Vic, they are usually at the front of the curve with BM factory and non factory mods.
