He also floated the idea of ED to pick up car, but not drive (save $) and further delay delivery a few weeks. Can't do the ED due to schedule but interesting idea.
Thanks for the info, I'd be terrified to drive it from SC to Chicago without PPF installed. I asked my SA about ED and he said there's really no cost savings on the M2.

allocation type

After looking at these post, I believe the allocations are given on a quarterly basis, not monthly.

Anyone disagree? Also seems like dealer gets the M2 allocations 1-2 weeks after the allocations for other models are given out.

That SA is lying - there's an ED price for the M2 (on BMW USA website) that is 5% off the base MSRP. Sounds like your dealer just doesn't want to honor it.

BMW allocations definitely come out quarterly - not sure who/where ever said it was monthly. As for M2 allocations coming out after other models, I doubt that but really don't know for sure.

Agree with this: $2675 savings on ED with full optioned M2

Anybody have an idea for cut the off week number to ensure delivery before the end of the year? I know its all an estimate but would be helpful.

Thanks!

As you're on the west coast, you need 6 to 7 (probably 7) weeks to get from production-complete to delivery. So 52 - 7 = 45. So I'd say Week 45 or earlier build if you want it delivered on west coast before end of 2017. Week 46 if everything went perfectly.

Same here.
Production to begin in Week41 (next week)
They said at first final delivery would be in Week48 but I think it will be earlier.

Thanks guys for the response. I guess I should've been more specific. I meant are there anyone that just got a confirmation during October that they will be getting an allocation. Not necessary build week in October, but just got notified that they will get an allocation from this quarter's newly released allocations.

I got confirmation last week about my wk 50 allocation. Not technically Oct but close enough.

Cool. I wonder how come some dealers would let their customers know at the end of the month. Aren't they suppose to get new allocations at the beginning?

M2 allocations have been issued quarterly in early March, June, September, and December. The people announcing their build weeks in this thread have received their production number from the September round of allocations.

I'm not saying that you're wrong, but I placed my order with my dealer in Southern California in early July, and I was told that it was their first 2018 allocation. I've no reason to dispute this because they had another allocation available which got taken by another forum member on here, so it certainly wasn't their last one.

If you're right, then I'm surprised that it took a whole month for the allocation to be snapped up by me, and at MSRP as well, which in CA is not the usual case.

Order bank for LCI didn't open until June 17. So early July was only a couple of weeks. I ordered mine on June 19, got week 33 build, at MSRP.

Allocations come out like started above, four times a year. I'm betting you picked up an allocation that someone passed on.

So my CA tells me they got an allocation for me, but it will be a few months before the car is build. But they don't know exactly when and there is no build number or week. Also wants me to fill out a finance application even though I have financing lined up as where. Does all this sound legit?

Ask for the production number, you can add it to your account with BMW's website.

While I don't see anything wrong with it, it does seem odd that your CA wants you to apply for credit on something that doesn't exist yet.

The CA should be able to give you a production number if you really have an allocation. They go hand in hand. Sounds like the CA has yet to secure your allocation.

Now a VIN won't be available until there is actually a car scheduled to be built.
