Hi guys,

Do I have the option to cancel the order? Or am I stuck w/ it (I want the car, just want it from a different CA @ another center)?
I am thinking to order the car from a different BMW center (feel more comfortable w/ the CA over there).

I believe you can always do that, even if your car is in production (the dealership will still sell the car to someone else). I placed my order and put down deposit at 2 different dealerships, and since one of them confirms my production earlier, I asked the other dealership to cancel my order and return my deposit. I hope this info helps.

Thanks a lot! I just feel it may be a difficult conversation to have... but since the production hasn't started (wont start until March), I guess it's not a big deal, thanks!

You should be able to cancel your order if it has been produced yet, but keep in mind you would have to wait until you get your allocation/production from the other BMW center as I'm sure one center would not give/transfer the allocation to the other. I hope this helps you.

OP, can you clear something up:

Are you looking to cancel the allocation altogether and get another one at the other dealer?

OR

Do you want to transfer your existing allocation from one dealer to the other?

hi guys,

I am looking to cancel the allocation altogether, and order the car from another dealer (who happens to have allocations as well). The reason is that.. I am just not very comfortable w/ the CA that I am working with. He hasn't been responsive, and is always slow in getting back to me (if he ever responds). Shame on me for placing my order w/ them in the first place (The CA that I ordered my last 2 BMWs went on w/ a new career), I should've gone to another dealer instead (trying to save a few miles on the drive).

if you know a dealer with a couple of allocations and you aren' using both, can you pm me the dealer? 'cause that would be pretty sweet!

Have you considered discussing with the GM and having another CA look after you? Play up the 'I wanna buy from you guys but not so sure anymore because of experience' card.

A decent GM would have no trouble looking after you and putting you in touch with a more reliable person. Remember: communication is key in developing a good relationship with a dealer.

You can work with another CA there and they will just split the deal. I hear it's pretty common thing to happen. A customer walks in working with CA1 and doesn't close the deal. Same customer walks in again and CA1 happens to not be there and CA2 closes the deal. You can speak with the sales manager or GM for a smoother transaction.

Talk to the GM or another CA.. first time I walked into the local dealer asking info and ready to throw money on the table to get on the waiting list the CA that received me talked a bunch of BS about how he was about to go to SC and test the cars out including the new M2 that he would record and share when he got back etc etc.. a week went by after his return and nada.. no calls, no returned emails to my initial communication nothing.. I sent him a couple emails saying I would like a build sheet just as one I had seen in person when the car was promoted for launch except for the DCT and to let me know how much money to bring to get on their list and never followed up.

Went back about two weeks later and was greated by a different CA explained what I wanted and he gave me straight story since day one and although I dropped money at another dealer also to see who landed an allocation first I was glad it was this dealer and that CA I closed with.

Like many have said, talk with dealer management and let them know you are not happy with the service so far and you would like another CA to take care of you..

I agree with those above who suggest touching base with the dealer's GM first. Going through another dealer is no guarantee that you will have a better experience nor is it a guarantee that they can deliver on allocations. Remember the CA seeking the deal is always going to be more hungry and may or may not be telling you the truth when it comes to delivering. I went through a fair amount of BS getting my car last year and was told plenty of stories about being able to get an allocation. I ended up getting lucky eventually with a great CA at the local dealership but it wasn't easy. I was working with a dealership in California where the CA never responded to my emails or calls, I contacted the GM and immediately got a call from the sales manager. I ended up getting an allocation locally so I cancelled that deal but I feel as a consumer we need to speak up when we are not getting treated properly.

I have found it is really hit or miss when dealing with CA's. My local dealer is notorious for having poor customer service so when I went in I had low expectations. I immediately asked to speak to the sales manager. I explained to him that I had done my research, knew what I wanted, understood the waiting period associated with the M2 and was ready to order one. We spoke for a minute about the demand and I reassured him I had no interest in any other car (m240 or M4) and was happy to wait for an M2. Afterwards he introduced me to a particular CA who he believed would be the best fit for me.

Much to my surprise he is a great CA and has been 100% open with me since day one. He has always responded within minutes every time I have contacted him with a question. And is constantly updating me on my progress.

If the CA you are working with is not a good fit for you then be sure to let the GM know and don't be afraid to walk away and do business with another dealer. Regardless if it is an awkward conversation or not, you have no obligation to remain with that CA if they aren't keeping you happy.

We just know them as salesmen or stealers over here,same thing

Yea, I was able to sort out the issues w/ my CA...
I was going to pull the plug, and cancel my order w/ him, but I guess I was too lazy to visit another BMW center. He's become more responsive after our conversation, so I am just patiently waiting for my M2 to arrive in mid-April

Hi there, I can't PM for some reason.. can you PM me, and I can share his contact info w/ you? I know a couple of dealerships that have week 7 and week 12 available @ MSRP. They're located in LA area though.
