I'm just about to schedule my 1200 mile service. I've been putting the miles on fast in an attempt to get to that first service. I have yet to floor the gas or go above 5,000 RPM. Even so it's still a complete blast to drive.
I am about to pick up my M2 after its first break-in service. SA noted that rpm limit will be lifted and car's full power will be unlocked.

Well, gents and ladies of week 43, this is the Last of the Mohicans, reporting in. Godot has arrived. Took delivery today, January 15. You do NOT want to know how that car looked after traveling cross country on a truck, and also obviously under another car that leaked oil. I was not a happy camper. Just about the polar opposite of the typical shiny dealer presentation with big red ribbons. Ridiculous.

Still, I'm happy to report after several hours that no permanent damage was done to the paint--and I looked hard. She's all cleaned up now, inside and out, and poised for the XPel wrap. Then, Opticoat Pro Plus. Then, the tweaking begins

Driving her around today, it's remarkable to me how familiar it all felt. The chassis was very very similar to my E36 M3 in feel. That had pretty hard aftermarket tranny and engine mounts, so there was more body vibration than with the M2. The clutch was not as bad as I remembered in the M4 I drove, but I still want a stiffer pedal and more positive gear engagement, so I'll be popping in a UCP and UUC SSK this next week. Measuring the distance between the bottom of the nose and the ground, and testing some driveways and bumps I normally encounter, I think I'll be able to get away with lowering it with some Eibachs, so I'll try those and accompanying spacers as well. Can always go back to stock if that doesn't work. Cosmetically, I'll be throwing on some cf exhaust tips I scored to match the diffuser, and maybe switching out the front grill surrounds to cf numbers I picked up from IND.

Other than that, it's get this baby to 1200 or so, and then install the Dinan Stage 4 kit I've got lined up. That should do it for awhile!

It's about bleepin' time. Glad I did it, but I do NOT want to do it again!!!

Congrats, Bruce! It's been an adventure for sure. The last of the 43's. Finally!

I hit 1250 miles today. Mine has a 7:00 AM appointment at the dealer tomorrow for the break-in service check. Then it's off to 7,000 RPM and full throttle!

Dinan Stage 4?! You are not messing around man. Holy cow. You've got to give me a ride when you get it done. I'll live vicariously through you. I flat out dont have the balls to throw that much power at this thing. it would he a real hoot to do a little side by side drag race on video. My stock MG and your, a-hem, not so stock stage 4 MG.

At least you got the car today and got to enjoy it in the sun. Back to rain this week.

Congrats! That was a long ass wait! Weather might actually be more conducive to racking up the miles this week. 50s = less worrying about tire temps and ice!

The car I totaled was a Dinan supercharged e36 M3, and that wreck was not power-related. I decided I was going to replace it as literally as I could

My other two cars are 500+ to the wheels. This will be about 400. I think I can handle it. I look forward to trying, at least

I'm not much for dragging per se, but we could probably hook up for a little demonstration of some sort later this spring/summer. Fun times...

Let me know what you think of the pre/post 1200 mile experience with the dealer. There seem to be conflicting reports as to whether there is a performance boost over and above what you'd expect from the extra 1500 rpm available once the handcuffs come off...

Congrats Bruce! Godot's journey was a long one.

Keep us posted on the Donna stage 4 mods!

Congrats! I picked mine up from an Xpel install last week. Weather here has been all over the place with freezing temps and salty roads. That combined with my 10-mile commute are making the miles rack up very slowly. It still feels like a stranger's car so I can't wait for consistently warmer temps when I can really learn the car and get into a groove. In spite of that, I absolutely love it!

Well gents, I picked up the M2 today from its 1200 mile service. Here's what I can report:

1) Drop me firmly in the camp of "There's no magical boost in power after the service." Car feels exactly the same, which is to say it still feels amazing, but now it's 2,000 RPM better as I get to go above 5,000.

2) Dealer had no idea about the soda can crunch. Could not reproduce. Could not find anything. Not surprising.

3) after sitting in their X1 shuttle and marveling at the soft, supple, leather, the seats in my M2 feel like weird pseudo leather that's actually made of some synthetic rubber sorta stuff.

4) I got a free cup of coffee and paid nothing out of pocket for the service. 100% as expected, but still a nice touch to pay nothing. Oh, and I have set it as my goal to drink enough free coffee at the dealer to offset my extended warranty costs.

Jealous that you already got break in done. I just cracked 300 and am really struggling not going full throttle and over 5k. It just begs for it! Stupid weather always getting in the way.

Hey all you week 43, 2017 folks! Hang in there. You should be getting your cars soon!

As a week 43, 2016 dude who has been enjoying his car for 11 1/2 months, all I can say is the wait is worth it. Enjoy!

I’m week 43, cars here and just had M perf coilovers installed. No time to pick it up till later this week. Had the car lowered to max on rear and close to max on front. Few clicks softer on both adjustments. Looks bad az, boss with 911 turbo said are those 21’s.

Good times

Thanks,

So rear end kicked out getting out of the dealership. On first gear without even dumping the clutch. More than capable power. Clutch engagement isn’t as bad as most people make it sound like...i could see how people use the bump stop there.

Fake sound is ok. Not entirely sure if I like or don’t like the rev match.

People way too bothered about the nuances like crooked seat and carbon weave. All in all it’s a pretty solid package, price wise. I’m a happy camper.

Enjoy the car people!
