IND | F87 Front Grille DIY
Similar to the E9X M3, BMW gave enthusiasts a head start with the elimination of the chrome window trim in favor of their gloss black "shadow line" trim. Unfortunately, BMW did not address the chrome on the front and side grills.
Utilizing the performance F22 front grill and a little DIY magic you can have a performance grill at half the price. Available for purchase on our site: http://ind-distribution.com/ind/bran...ille-surrounds Tools required: •Torx 30 Step 1: The front grille set does require partial removal of the front bumper so the first step in the process is to pop the hood. Step 2: Looking at the top part of the bumper behind the front grilles you will notice a rubber strip. This rubber strip must be removed. Simply start at the end and carefully pull it from the bumper. Step 3: With the rubber strip removed you will notice 6 Torx 30 bolts. Using the Torx 30 drivers unscrew and remove all 6 screws. Step 4: The front bumper cover is urethane giving it plenty of flexibility. Using your off hand peel the top portion of the front bumper forward and reach with the other hand to unclip the clips behind the front grille. Step 5: Now that one side is out, you can reach in through the grille opening to easily release the clips of the other grille. Step 6: Now that the front grille is removed you can unclip the center slats from the surround. Step 7: All IND grilles will ship with the surround removed from the F22 slats. Slats will be included simply because you are buying the grille, but they are not necessary. Now clip the F87 M2 slats into the F22 surround. Step 8: Push the front grilles into place and reverse the installation. Make double sure to install all screws as well as the rubber weather strip. As always if any member has any questions please don't hesitate to contact us directly.

Got the black surrounds from IND. Couldn't be happier. Added some vinyl decals from Amazon...

How is the quality of the gloss black on these IND outer rings versus ordering the M Performance grill for the M235i and just swapping out the inner parts?
I read somewhere else on the forum that the M235i outer rings are the same as the ones for the M2. Has anybody tried this? |

Thanks Cat @ iND for working with me to get the perfect black chrome tint. I definitely think the lighter version is the way to go. What do you think?

So, are the stock inner grills black? So all I need are the surrounds?
I don't need to purchase the $400+ pair of grills for my M2? Edit: Have not picked up my M2 yet, so just asking in advance. |
