What I hate about this waiting around for an allocation without the dealer never even knowing anything drives me crazy. My dealer swears that they should get an allocation this month (Aug) but I think from just reading this forum I probably know more than he does. I am hoping for the Sept 17th allocation release for production in months of Oct, Nov and Dec. Since I signed up for ED I will pass on this during the winter months.

Ken

Ken, I'm afraid that if your dealer is telling you he'll get an August allocation, he is simply not connected--at all--to the situation. This is very similar to my small dealer experience--a complete lack of connection to information, except in the case of that dealer, instead of getting predictions, I've gotten a series of shoulder shrugs, and even ignorance of bulletins sent to NA dealers by BMW, quoted from time to time on this board. Seattle BMW has not been all-knowing, but at least they have known something from time to time.

I hope they build mine with a "good" differential so I can bypass all of that BS.
Production finished on 8/30/16 as advertised.
Made it to the port in Bremerhaven on 9/1/2016.
Loaded onto the Tosca (W&W) on 9/4/2016 and is currently on its way to the VPC in New Jersey. ETA 9/21/2016

With any luck, I'll have it by the end of the month!

Odds are your rear diff is getting replaced.

I've been waiting longer than most of the people report on here as well and I'm also going to Galveston (like Cosmos). Searching by Galveston destination of WWL shipping tools shows a much lower frequency of trips that dock in Galv. I think we just have an unlucky destination. There's only been one other Galveston ship since I've been at port and It departed the day after my car arrived (27th).

Integrity ships out tomorrow, I have a good feeling we'll be on it. It's the only Galveston bound ship on WWL since the 27th.

That's ridiculous!
W&W has almost weekly sailings from Bremerhaven to Galveston.
There's one departing tomorrow.
It took a couple of days after the ship sailed before I was able to track my car on the W&W website.

With any luck, you'll be on that ship!

Mine was a week 33 build, I thought they had the diff issue resolved by then. Why would they fix it at the port anyway instead of at the factory before sending it to the port if they knew it had an issue.

Issue is not resolved and bum diffs are still being actively installed and fixed after the fact, either at port or VPC after arrival, or at your dealer later on if car is not on priority list. Thankfully this time they know which ones are bad and aren't trying to find out like with the first Nov-July batch of cars.

Red face

Normal OEM SOP to repair vehicles in bulk at the Port. A couple of reasons. Size ... more room at the port to stage and repair vehicles than at the factory. Cost ... make the supplier (to the extent it is a supplier issue) perform the rework with supplier labor and supplier parts. Makes the chargeback easier on the OEM.

Just got off the phone with the Genius. I'm week 43 and scheduled to start production late this week or early next. The anticipation is killing me!

So, since we are all sitting around waiting, how are you guys managing unloading your existing daily drivers? Dealer trade-in, private sale, keeping it and just adding the M2 to the collection? I'm toggling between trade-in and private party. My dealer offered me a surprisingly reasonable price for my 370Z; about $3k less than I'd hope to get through private party sale. $3k to not have to deal with CraigsList, idiot tire kickers, people knowing where I live, bogus checks, and all the other hassles that come with selling a reasonably expensive car to a private party, is fairly appealing.

On the otherhand, $3k would cover my planned M Sport add-ons, a clear bra, and window tint.

Galveston, oh, Galveston,
I still hear your seawinds blowing;
I still see her dark eyes glowing.
She was twenty one, when I left Galveston.

Congrats! I like how this forum got people worrying about what tires are gonna come with the car. I would hope to get Michelin too with my predicted delivery early next year. Enjoy!

Thanks and yeah, that was the only variable that remained unknown. I'm glad the tire gods smiled down on me for this one

Could not be happier with the car. Everything I hoped for, for sure.

Holy sh*t is that a beautiful car! I'm really glad I went MG. Was going to do AW and when I saw the MG 2-series sitting in the Seattle showroom I changed my mind.

Go get that beauty inside quick before this storm hits!

Thank you, sir! Yes, they are really impressive in person. Just stunning little cars. It's safely tucked away in the garage until after this weekend's weather. Been fun walking around it and sitting inside it, getting familiar and setting everything up just right.

Incredible cars. Can't wait for everyone else to take delivery of theirs, too! You guys are in for a treat.

Thanks, died. BTW, how long did it take from loading on to the ship until arrival at your dealer?

The ship left Germany at the end of August, stopped on the East Coast in mid-September, then went down through Panama and arrived in California at the end of September. So altogether a month from Germany to California.

From California, it took a little over week to load it onto a truck and drive that up to Seattle.

Total time is about 5-6 weeks from Germany to Seattle.
