any new long term reviews?
I really wanted Eibachs, but the responses I have seen lately scare me a bit.

No problem with mine so far. The amount of drop is perfect. We've also dropped our last several cars with Eibachs and never had a problem.

I just ordered mine last week from Turner Motorsports. They knocked a couple of dollars off, too.

I'm removing them, after 8 months of use.
My stock suspension damping just gets worse day by day and we have shitty roads over here. So I'm looking to go with proper coilover instead. It looks great, it turn great on completely flat and surface without small bumps, but otherwise its so annoying to live with them. |

I really don't think coilovers are the solution to the issues you're stating. The Eibach pro kit may not be the best fit for stock dampers (true with all Lowering springs), but coilovers, being much stiffer compared to stock, certainly won't reduce choppiness with day-to-day driving on less than ideal roads.... So you may want to stick with the stock suspension or try the Dinan HAS kit as this is the only setup that apparently rides more compliant than stock.

I had Eibach's on my F80 and they were great; felt like stock. I'm installing mine on the M2 on the 19th so I'll report back with my initial thoughts and pics.

FYI, Eibach is coming out with a coilover setup called the pro street multi. The shocks are made by Sachs. I had preordered it and was ready to be the guinea pig but the kit has been delayed until July and I am not waiting that long. No information on the spring rates yet on their website.

If you're sticking with the OEM struts then you will want to include the following replacement bolts / nuts for the top mount to be on the safe-side (in addition to Mosely's list):
BMW basically states that any bolt / nut removed during install of springs needs to be replaced. It comes out to like $140 for hardware but it's relatively cheap piece of mind IMO |

The link provided from Mosely was a coil over install, so more bolts were removed, I assume. Are all of you replacing these bolts after an Eibach install? And it seems if I go back in now, I'll potentially loosen everything back up and I'll need another alignment. On top of that, after an alignment, they loosen and tighten these bolts again, so doesn't that defeat the purpose of replacing some of these in the first place? Any help in understanding this is appreciated! Thanks!

In order to install springs, you need to completely remove the front struts, so it requires just as much disassembly as a coilover install and then some. Alignment is necessary after spring install but during an alignment none of the control arm bolts (listed in Mosely's thread) are touched, I believe. Alignment loosens camber adjustment bolt which is not replaced during a spring install. Does that make things more clear? |

It's not completely necessary to replace those top mount bolts. I can guarantee you the dealer doesn't do that when they service parts requiring it. I've taken mine out and put in again many times playing with suspension.

We've never, in all the vehicles we've dropped, replaced any bolts. I started freaking out a little when I read it was necessary. I'm wondering how many people actually do replace these.

Finally was able to install my Eibach springs w/ Turner 7.5mm spacers all around... the drop is perfect! 10mm spacers might be pushing it so I kept them at 7.5mm and am very, very happy with it.
I had a nice 65 mile ride home over the weekend (mainly highway but a few backroads) and the ride honestly felt like stock; firm, but flatter in corners for sure. We'll see how the damping holds up over time. I never had an issue with the Eibachs on my F80 so I think I'll be happy with these on my M2 DD. Now onto the pics Comparison- stock top, lowered bottom: Profile: Front:

I installed my Eibach pro kit as well. So far everything is pretty good... Ride quality is more or less the same (from my perspective). Firmness is increased ever so slightly and I don't notice any loss in performance, like some people claim with spring-only setups. No noise either.
I do get a bit of bounciness but I also had this with the stock springs/struts/shocks - the roads here are terrible which is why I've stayed away from coilovers (and I don't track the car either). I am slightly considering some Bilstein B6s so I don't have to worry about the stock struts/shocks degrading over time. I've been told that B6s should work fine with the Eibach pro kit. It just seems like no one on here has ever gone down this path... most maintain the coilover or nothing mentality. Obligatory photos: |
