Tires that came on my new M2.....
I thought the M2 was delivered with Michelins..... My M2 ZL9 package car was delivered with Continental ContiSportContact 3 tires. Have others been delivered with the Continentals? I think the Michelin is the better tire.

Yea I think they are great "break in" tires if you catch my drift . Just going to replace with p4s when they die off . I'm at 55xx so I'm sure I have similar tread life left

I think if your pushing it hard and do the odd track day the Michelin are brilliant. But I had the continental on my mini gp2 and they were fantastic, so I wouldn't be fussed which tyre I had on a new car but to be honest my money would go in the Michelin.

I doubt BMW would want to handicap their cars with bad tires, so if they are good enough for the engineers at BMW then they should be fine for us.
I have Michelin PS super sports on both my cars though. LOL Mike

Rest assured, they are worse. There is a reason no press cars for E9x or F8x got sent out with the Contis. The bean counters make this decision, not the engineers.

Keep in mind also that the MY16 cars were the only ones where they specifically said it came with the "custom designed for M2" MPSS.
From MY17 onwards that language was removed and changed to just "high performance tires". Last edited by gmzanatta; 07-25-2017 at 02:17 PM.. |

2016 all had Michelin so the reviews would be good and they could fool people into thinking it came with them in the future when they looked at the car reviews, all done in 2016.
Once 2017 MY came out it was about 60/40 split Michelin / Conti. |

The true question is...can you tell the difference on the street?
Thats my question as a conti peasant. I always thought there is a point you could tell the difference, but id never be able to know on the street or Daily driving besides getting shafted by significantly less tread life |

I had the Contis in my Z4MC at first and then the MPSS, and taking the same highway merge, with the road wet, it was almost a 10 km/h difference between when the Contis would break traction vs the MPSS. |

My argument with BMW corporate continues regarding my M2 coming equipped with Contis. I agree, its not that the Conti is a horrible tire but is much less desirable than the MPSS (in my opinion) I contact them every day with the same issue...and every day get told to piss off. Problem BMW will have is the fact that Im so damn stubborn I'll keep calling until (and even after) I've worn the first set out and replaced with MPSS's. Why would you equip a majority of cars with MPSS and then throw Contis at the rest? @Chris719 had it correct, this is a bean counter decision.

with my previous vehicle, depending on what region of the US you are in, you either get contis or pirellis. i wonder if that's the case with the M2s. does anyone who took delivery of an MY17 in cali actually got PSS?
