Windshield Replacement
I replaced mine (MY '16) using Safelite Auto Glass after I hit a piece of tire rubber on the track at 115 mph. Total was $429.60 installed by a mobile unit. Part # FW03972 GTY. Plugged into rain/distance/light sensing camera without a hitch and worked perfectly. The part is listed for a M235i, but is applicable to the M2 as well.
The installer said it is the same part as OEM, without the Connected drive sticker in the glass. I've used Safelite for years and knew a replacement wouldn't be more than $500. My dealer offered windshield insurance for ~$800, requiring a day at the dealership and (I think) a deductible of some sort for each occurrence. In my opinion (not just the raw math), I will have to go through 2 more windshields before the insurance would have been a better deal. Having safelite do mobile installation is infinitely more convenient than dealing with service at the dealer, not to mention the claim process with the windshield insurer. |

If it's the same door window glass as the f22, then here' a data point - i replaced a window on my 2014 m235i about 6 mos ago - glass is about $120 shipped from BMW of Fairfax ($105 without shipping), and about $100 to install at a local glass shop.

I have always had glass replacement as part of my auto insurance. It's lumped in with the comprehensive coverage & costs pretty much next to nothing. Total comp coverage is about $150 annually for 2 vehicles.
I had a Toyota Tacoma that went thru 7 windshields! |
