I bet yours is more because they are also including the CF trim piece. I opted not to buy that and it saved me a bunch of $$... didn't want the trim piece as it is aesthetics only and what I really wanted was the thicker grip.

Call bullshit on your dealer. I just bought a non-electronic one for less than $750 without the Carbon Fiber trim on Friday. I had him check inventory and there were only two in the US warehouse in Nazareth, PA. The CF trim is slated for availability 7/21. Mine will be in this week.

That is highway robbery, even for a dealer. These people have no shame. The MPerformance price I've seen listed for the non-electronic wheel to be installed at the port was around $700. Don't know whether that is with the CF piece or not. I suppose you could buy the CF piece and pop it into the stock wheel as well, since the piece has its own part number....

Looks excellent Artemis. How is the feel? Is the diameter bigger than the leather wheel?
I might go for this one instead of the one with the display. I will fit an Awron display as well so I do not really need the features in the steering wheel with display. Also saves me some decent cash. MR |

The thickness of the grip area is notably different... see below. P.S. Ignore that the diameter looks smaller in this photo... I just didn't have the wheels aligned perfectly for this photo as I was just interested in relative thickness

Guys, is anyone of you aware of the possibility to change the "clip" of the steering wheel (see image below)?
I really hate the new F87 M Performance wheel and I decided to go with the one from the M4 (see below). I currently have the F2x/3x M Performance steering wheel in my M135i and I really prefer an overall alcantara look and feel. Only worries is the "clip": The M4 MP wheel has a glossy CF clip and I really want to keep the look of the "raw" CF interior trim of the F87. Anybody out there who knows this?

I am not sure if the pricing from BMW for the MP parts is still fair...

As also forum fellow gthal righteously pointed out, the diameter is virtually the same, but it's more chunky, meaty than the stock M2 steering wheel. More stuff to grab for both your hands. Though it's all pretty subjective, in my book it does not only look better than the stock M2 steering wheel (without being overkill for this car), but it also feels better and is slightly more functional. Thumbs feel a little more 'locked in' in the thumb-rests and rest comfortably on the soft Alcantara 'pussy' fabric. Less slippery/cold than full leather. I also like the flatter bottom design, facilitating to eventually relax both hands whilst cruising, by 'grabbing' the bottom almost horizontally (instead of slightly inclined with the stock M2 wheel). Just in case you're wondering: I'm still talking about the steering wheel here. More on aesthetics: I like the addition of some Alcantara and open-pore CF trim, as those materials already feature elsewhere inside the interior. It further matches/completes the car. Furthermore, when outside the car and peeking through any window, the blue 12h marker is pretty 'in your face' - can't escape the eye. It's the steering wheel used in the M2 MotoGP Safety Car, with the exception of the cover (gold-colored trim + Alcantara). See below. M2 (M-DCT) interior with M Performance steering wheel (not my picture): M2 MotoGP Safety Car interior: M2 MotoGP Safety Car interior - Close-up:

How do you think about the leather on the steering wheel? Would you prefer just an alcantara version if avaiblable or would you always choose the alc/leather version? I think it looks quite odd and I've always loved BMWs approach to go full alcantara (instead of Audi, they are selling quite the same steering wheel (leather/alc) for their cars.
