The M2 is influenced by the M235i Racing in which this concept looks like a more extreme version.

But if you look at every detail of this concept , every element from the aerodynamic packet to the body sculpture. If we take and shrink it to realistic proportions you get the look of an M car and even so a modern M car with sculpting for air curtains etc.

Even the inclusion of the side breather is an indication how it forms that sculpture at the front wheel arch.
Take a closer look at it and you can see it is more prominent rather than the stuck on look of the M235i Racing. But you also see the progress of evolution from this element on the 1M Coupe.

Even at the rear you can see the ducts that were on the 1M rear bumper assembly carried over and a similar cut-out for the diffuser.
1er M Coupe to M2 Coupe is continued progress but still with the same goal to appeal to younger customers and customers who are young at heart.

But what we have is a perfect base and the ideal source material to create realistic renderings.

To The Bimmerpost renderer artists....its over to you...
As much as I hate Facebook,
I think it's appropriate to say that I "like" and "heart" this post.

Thanks Scott.

No doubt at all, this has 2-series inspiration. Taillights and c-pillar.

It's posts like this, and ever-encouraging speculation that make this wait for the M2 worthwhile. M235i is a great car, but simply lacks the emotion I felt, and still feel, when looking at an E30 or E82. Hoping BMW brings a little more bulldog and little less pig with the M2.

and yes...a little GT6 for me tonight.

Seriously! If the M2 looks like this, I'm selling BOTH my kids and my dog to get one....wait, I'll keep my kids and sell my wife!

I LOVE this. The only thing missing is a CF roof.

I came back here to take in more of this design. Just can't see enough of it.

Are those side mirrors or cameras? Tiny!

...And take nearly 200 BHP off the figure and add about 350kgs of weight then may be.

I just don't get why, when there are clearly people willing to pay a hell of a lot of money for cars, that a 550BHP 1200kg BMW isn't made... If BMW aren't going to make one why not make the virtual car 700BHP and 1000kgs and kick most in game cars arses!?

I like how the stripes follow the air flow, up the hood, through the side vent (a la Ferrari F12), down the side into the side vent, and then out the rear diffuser. This is a really nice looking race car, and would be great if this was the direction the M2 were to take even with reduced racing bulges/aerodynamics.

Seriously. A normal hood line that once again runs above the twin kidney grills, which have been separated from the headlights. That's not too much to ask for right?

This is no doubt a great start for the M2, but as much as I like the aerodynamics of the car it's strictly a racing car...
