Really like the looks of this tune! Is the stage 2 tune best suited for a catted downpipe or catless downpipe? Will there be any power gains going to catless setup? Also is an aftermarket exhaust required for stage 2 or will there not be much to gain from the exhaust?

Do you have any dealers in western Canada to unlock the ECU? If not, do you have any dealers in the pacific northwest?

We do have a dealer in Richmond, BC area by the name of Performance ONE,
and if you prefer an option south of the border much, we also have Achtuning
in Seattle, WA.

Stage TWO is calibrated for use with aftermarket downpipe, either with or
without cat. Reducing back pressure and lowering EGT's is almost always a
benefit to performance; Not only in regards to increasing horsepower, but
also more consistent power with less DME correction and intervention.

Stage TWO offers an increase of 30-40 HP/TQ over Stage ONE, which is a
combination of the hardware and software working together. This is an
accumulative gain as on their own neither would provide the same benefits.

Very quick process, shout out to VF Engineering and Gary for being super helpful.

Will have dyno results after I install my intercooler, charge pipes, and turbo inlet. Right now I have a catless downpipe, catback, and intake.
I will pretty much end up with your same list of mods. I have catted dp, midpipe and exhaust. Will do FMIC and charge pipe. Interested in your results!

Depending what you are installing it could be plug and play!

I will most likely have the shop do it since its nicer to do on a lift that laying on the ground!

And that is what I am shooting for! But with 93 octane

Speaking of "roller coaster"...

...One of our customers recently sent some photos of his last track day
at Laguna Seca in Monterey, Ca. My favorite shot is hands down his M2
hitting the apex on the world famous "corkscrew" (above), but these other
two aren't bad either!

By the time you have to smog it you might not even have the car I think it's 6 years till next Smog on new cars.
And you can remove tune and put it back after smog test.
I'm from so.cal ///

Can you put up a video of how to remove the ECU if there's no local dealership and it has to be shipped?

We haven't made the time to do a video for the N55 yet, but there are
plenty of really good resources online already.

Here's a link to one that's very complete and relatively easy to follow:
.PDF ECU Removal Guide (click link to download)

Credit to crbalch for creating the .pdf
and @dd1981 and harkes for the groundwork.

Looking to eventually do a stage 2 tune and HEX seems to be the best option. I called the local shop here who is an approved dealer and asked what happens to the comfort, sport and sport + mode after the tune. They didn't really know and said that once tuned it probably just has one setting and the comfort, sport and sport+ have no variance anymore.

Is this true? Once tuned, does comfort, sport and sport+ do anything anymore?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Also, asked if I got stage 1 done now, how much would be it to go up to a stage 2 after I got me dp and FMIC. They said full pop on price again for stage 2.

Any dealers located in Central Canada?

I live in Manitoba and those dyno plots have peaked my interest!

Edmonton is an easy one.

We have a certified HEX Tuning Installer in Edmonton by the name
of Velocity Motorsport. Ask for Alex and mention that we spoke via
///M2 Bimmerpost forum!

Hey djacts !

The dealer you spoke to may have been mistaken.
The full OEM functionality of the different drive modes remains
intact even after the ECU is tuned.

Comfort, Sport and Sport + will still scale the throttle response
and shift points accordingly, just as if the car was stock, only w/
significantly more power on tap.

If you start with Stage ONE, you will receive our HEX Flash Cable
which allows for OBDII Port Flashing and MAP Switching between
stock and tuned modes.

In the event that you want to upgrade to Stage TWO at any point
in the future, the cost of the new file will be just $100. The file will
be e-mailed to you, which you can then upload yourself in literally
less than 3 minutes.
