Oxymoron, an Australia based forum member, sent me over this dyno plot so I share here.
He made 343whp FBO on OTS STG2 93OCT, baseline being 286whp with FBO stock flash. In full disclosure, 286whp was a single and isolated run. And 2 week earlier being bone stock his car put down 296whp, which is a proper baseline. Even that, a delta of 343-296=47whp shown on a low reading dyno is a huge gain for a M2. It'd be easily a 390whp on Dynojet corrected to STD smoothing 5. Congrats!

From there, I think custom can get you a happier engine, not necessarily more power. Can even dial you back a little bit should ignition not hold up well with insufficient supporting mods or bad fuel.

Yr comment above aligns with my rationale when I custom mapped the JB4 on my m135i. I got stock like driveability with a lot more oomph everywhere with much more eagerness at the top end 5-7k rpm. Will probably do the same with obd tune. Thanks BP |

If you want to custom tune for the most power you need:
1. A flash tune with timing advance tables 2. An accurate dyno 3. A tuner who understands maximum brake torque |

Probably a stupid question:
Flashing Stage 1 Bootmod3 soon for first time (and re-flashing to stock soon for 20k service). Can hooking up an additional car battery with jumper cables substitute for a battery charger? |

Hello bimmerposters! New to the forum, I have a 2017 M2 w/ DCT. Just bought the BM3 for my car this past weekend, flashing was very easy (went with the OTS Stage 1 93 octane tune using 1 gal of E85 with 12 gal of 92 oct WA pump gas). Car is running great, AFR in the 12's for full throttle pulls. VERY impressed with all the features the BM3 has, and a great price point.
Plan on putting on a Wagner Evo Perf 2 FMIC, Wagner catless DP, and a VRSF charge pipe very soon (everything ordered already). Once that is all installed, will be switching over to the OTS Stage 2 93 oct map. Also plan on dynoing the car at that time (unfortunately don't have any baseline dyno pulls though). Not sure if any what power upgrades I'll do in the future, will make that decision after putting the above mentioned mod. Will add some coilovers at some point. One thing I did notice that was a little weird was the GTS transmission flash. To be honest, I didn't like it. I ended up flashing back to stock. When I was in the auto mod (C), the car kept wanting to upshift to a higher gear. Going 20 mph in 6th gear for example (at 1,500rpm). Then when you give it gas it sort of bogs down a little. |

That's a common complaint with the GTS DCT flash in auto mode. |

GTS DCT is basically a hyper-miling shift mode that you can't get out of no matter which drive mode you are in. Seems to be at odd with an aggressive tune...
I am fine with BM3 including it as an option to the owner. But at least write up 2-3 sentences to describe its characteristic on the app so owners know what they are getting into rather than get befuddled by its lackadaisical manner.

I just tried out the gts dct on my M2. I definitely prefer the stock calibration. Will be flashing her back to stock dct next time I get a minute to connect up.
I drive mostly in manual mode shifting with the shift lever, not the paddles and I’ve lost the small lovely throttle noises when early shifting upon medium throttle acceleration....I really liked those sounds. Tried auto mode and it shifts up to the high gears way too early and even feels boggy and lugging the engine. Comfort/sport setting does nothing in gts auto mode (to the tranny shifts). |

Sorry; the combined temp gauge. I am not running diag or agent. Normally my temps sit right at that first notch between 70 and 120. I sit around 100. Doesn't seem to venture above that but its higher for sure.
edit: nevermind; it's just comfort mode

You're running an OTS tune though aren't you? There are enough users of those maps to know if there was an issue I think, and I've not heard of any related to temperature. I've personally made logs of the following maps and never seen anything unusual with temperatures. I'm always waiting for oil temp to be appropriate before I log a pull, so I'd have noticed if something were off:

I am pretty sure sport & sport + utilize the additional cooling capabilities of the car and if you not running hard it runs cooler. If I an in comfort and I switch and keep driving the same oil & coolant drop a lot

in comfort mode mine runs about 220-225 oil & water all the time for effecient fuel mileage & emissions. When I am in port/sport+ the temps drop down into the 175 range or so for the same type of driving.
