I understand the $2,000 is disappointing for people who wanted no increase but I think that it doesn't change the value proposition in a meaningful way... especially consider Canadian dollar.

To downgrade the tires to Conti's is disappointing, if true, as is the switch from the tire size it has been designed with and reviewed with. Wonder what other more minor "upgrades" they will be switching in unannounced to save money.

The sunroof option is no benefit to those who don't want one. Though I would be glad to switch allocation spots with you gthal if you really want it

Bluenose is absolutely correct. Since the price was set, whenever that was, currency has weakened all across the board really (not just Canada).

Consider this. at 61k CAD, that translates into 47kUSD and 41,500 Euro. 63k is 48,500 USD and nearly 43k Euro. Now it's not all about exchange rates but the USD is closer to the euro MSRP after VAT.

56,700 -20% VAT = 47500 (47500 + (47500*.2) = 57000) That's 54k USD and 70k CAD. Much bigger gap after factoring in destination. After destination, the US price difference is ~$1300 versus 8k in CAD (now 6 after destination and price increase).

Not saying it's great that you guys have to pay the extra money and that exchange rates are the only thing but here we are. Hopefully some of you can get the old price based on signed papers and dealers not being crooks.

I'll be fighting mine if it comes to that, though I'm sure the dealer knows I want the car so it might be a tough sell depending on the price increase. But I have some leverage with the performance parts I'll be getting through them and the fact that my piece of paper was signed by me and the sales manager listing an agreed upon price, even though it's for a 2016MY.

EDIT: Since BMW developed bespoke tires just for the M2 and stand to make a ton of money from people buying them straight from BMW, I doubt they'd throw away all that R&D work with Michelin after 2 months of production. Just saying.

Well put deposit down for a 17 M2 ...my dealer has 1 yr to get me it as I have 1 yr left on my lease...if not then either I get the deposit back or maybe flip to a m240i...either way I am content to wait.

If true, it would be really unprofessional from this SA. He even deserves to be fired!

FYI in case you guys haven't seen it, I made a thread dedicated to the MY17 changes.

As for SA's getting cars, I haven't heard anything about that. I did hear about dealerships trying to (not sure if they succeeded) buy allocations for $5-10K above MSRP. My GM tells me BMW got wind of it and shut that shit down right away.

Is your thread replacing this one? It is a good idea to centralize the information.

I don't plan on it. Basically I envision that one for current info and this one for general Canadian discussion since at 70,000 posts it's now hard to find stuff

Looking for advice:
I currently have 3 options:
1- current situation: production last week of September for delivery around mid-November (going to go directly in my garage for storage)
2- change for a production in November/December and take delivery in March 2017
3- wait for an allocation in calendar year 2017 (first allocation from my dealership)

Since I will most likely not received the car this summer, I tend to go with option #2.

What is your opinion? Thanks for your advice/help.

IMO if you won't DD in winter like gthal or myself, option #2, IF a guaranteed allocation, is the way to go!

If I were in your situation and assuming that your dealer will accept it I guess option # 2 would be the best one. This way you will start to pay the car at the same time you will drive it, otherwise your will pay for 3 or 4 months before driving the beast !

BTW I'm following your advise and I'm seriously thinking about buying the MPE at $3,500...

IMO I would take option#1 and get the car ASAP. All we've been getting are delays so I would just play it safe and get it as soon as you can.

+ 1. Get it as soon as you can to avoid future delays. I am in the same situation Benzima production mid October and delivery mid December. I will store it all winter not to risk further delays...

Also keep in mind if your car is shipped in Jan.. March there is a risk that it will sit at port in Halifax for a while causing further delays. Last winter a large number of BMW's were stuck in a ice storm in Halifax that delayed delivery several weeks and once delivered they were recalled because of corrosion issues. It happened to my neighbours M4 and BMW bought it back from him few months after he got it.

+2! I am kind of paranoid with all the delays to far. My November production already won't get here until winter - but it is going straight into the garage until May anyway. Not sure I am willing to switch places with someone behind me to minimize the garage time - if I do that and it slides, I could miss some of the 2017 driving season too!

A couple of hundred $ of extra interest to make sure I don't miss more than I have to

You will not regret the MPE (note: I have yet to hear the stock exhaust. Once I hear it, I will make my final choice )

Thanks for all the feedback. I think I am going to keep my option #1 unless I get a guaranteed allocation later option #2 (option #3 is definately out).

To those who will not DD the M2 during winter, I take that you guys have a second vehicle that you enjoy driving during those dreary days. Besides the potential M2 delay, what else are you guys concerned about? Paying the monthly lease on months when your car is in storage for 4 months translates to depreciation without enjoyment. I'm probably missing something...

According to some video clips that we can see on youtube the stock exhaust has already a great sound. An example here

Unfortunatly the only video clip we can see on youtube for M2 with MPE are all in track mode, a mode that we cannot use on the roads without getting tickets. An example here

There is this one for MPE but on this video the MPE does not sound great, in fact even the stock exhaust sound better.
