Can I check my understanding? You're removed the structural reinforcement plate and covered the gap that's left with a (literally) carbon copy of the cover panel designed to smooth out the airflow under the front of the M4 GTS?

Great idea and love that it could provide some weight reduction up front. I hope that CF panel is designed well enough to be as strong/stuff as the OEM plate.
What's the weight comparison and is it just a flat piece of carbon? |

Ok I just saw this thread and had a few comments:
1) You need to start selling this cover, if you can sell it for cheaper than a stock GTS piece that would be a major win, because it is hard to find. 2) This piece shouldn't be a replacement for the stainless steel stiffening plate, it wasn't the intent of the design - that's why BMW made it out of cardboard/FRP/Carpet material. The intent of this part is to smoothen the underbody air flow and stop the stiffening plate from generating aero dynamic losses (since that place is janky and has a bunch of raised edges). This way the air flow under the front of the car will be undistrubed and have a flat area to work on thereby generating down force via the venturi effect (that's why race cars have a flat floor), and you will also decrease drag. The problem is this was not intended to stiffen the car even in the slightest, that's why it is held on via self tapping sheet metal screws into very thin metal clips, vs the stock plate which is secured by 8 massive bolts. So if you delete the stiffening plate, at the very worst you risk losing chassis stifness, at the worst you risk chassis damage due to flex...
