Piano Black or Carbon Fiber?

I have an opinion question for the group.

I bought my ‘21 M2C gently used with piano black interior trimmings: interior doors handles, dash, center console, and gear shifter space.

While I think it looks really good, all of the versions of the interior that I see are carbon fiber.

Any thoughts one way or the other here?

I’m thinking about making a switch to carbon fiber, but maybe I just have too much time on my hands…

I prefer the carbon fiber just based on the fact there will be no finger smudges/faint scratches visible.

they both kinda suck imo. I do prefer the carbon fiber because what was mentioned above, the less piano black and dirt and smudges the better but I would have preferred traditional cleared carbon fiber (like the CS got) over what we have, looks kinda like a basket. I have to admit that I like it a lot better now that I did when I got the car, it has grown on me.

If I had piano black I would switch over to cleared carbon fiber from bimmer masterpieces or whatever the other one is. It won't be cheap but neither will the OEM stuff and I think would look much better.

I had the piano black from factory, didn’t hate it but didn’t love it either. I switched to the M Performance trim kit because I wanted the alcantara dash piece and also gave me the carbon pieces as well.

I do wish it was gloss clear.

That looks nice!

Edit: Did you install yourself or have someone else do it?

Wow. That’s a lot of piano black trim. Must be aftermarket trim pieces? I only have piano black trim around the HVAC and audio controls in the center stack in my ‘18 M2.

Yeah, gotta get that piano black outta there — especially on the high touch areas like door pulls.

Everywhere you have dry carbon, he has piano black. It was a factory option.

Yup- it’s nice, but I’m not crazy about the smudges either.
