Insurance Question?

I am picking my car up in a couple of weeks and just been getting some quotes for insurance.

Who have you used and what type of pricing are you seeing?

So many variables in insurance but just as a reference point I've signed up for (pick up car next week) $108 per month.

Thanks, do you mind if I ask who with?

I am 35 with rating 1, been provided a number of different quotes ranging from $900 - $3,500 but they are mostly around the $2,000 annual.

Through HBF - later realised that was for market value, if i change to agreed value and make it 112K it went up to 117 p/m.

I'm 34 with 60% NCB, but also have another car, house(s), and health with HBF which i think gets 15% off.

Yeah apparently it's the only grey one in WA...they sold one before but it got trucked east straight away.

The best I have managed is $2100 with a company called CGU. It went all the way up to $3000 with Allianz.

My mineral grey M2 is finally built and on board the Undine (SE) gets to Brisbane on the 8/11. The wait is fine, I ordered back in April.

Got a few free CF bits and 5 years free servicing for list price so was pretty happy with the deal.

Considering the price of those CF accessories that's a really good deal.
Congratulations, I know the suspense of having to wait now and follow that boat around the world!

Hey Guys,

Was hoping you could help me out before I ask in the wider audience, I thought I'd start with us locals.

For those with a DCT gearbox, when driving in traffic and using the auto start/stop feature, do you get a pronounced click or clunk sound each time the car switches off and then back on again?

The sound is definitely coming from the gearbox area. I've made this quick video this evening.
I pointed this out to BMW Melbourne today during my run in service and they've come back to say it's normal and the other 2 cars they had in the workshop apparently also made the same sound.

I don't recall hearing this during test driving M2's when I was shopping around but I may have missed it.
It's most noticable when you don't have the radio on and everything is just quiet. There are times I just get in and drive and each time I hear this it just drives me nuts.

In the video you'll hear as the car comes to a stop, it switches off and then you hear the sound. Then as I get off the break, the car turns on and that clunk sound again.

Is this common, does your car have the same sound?
Now that I've heard it, I can't miss it.

I can't say I've noticed that noise however 99% of the time i turn auto stop start off, i do however sometimes hear a slight clunk when switching the car off.

I'll listen out more closely tomorrow though and report back.

Getting mine on Friday @ 5pm. I feel like I need to pinch myself to remind myself this is not a dream and that the day has nearly arrived.
