I'll give you RS3. Some AMG. But compared to their predecessors? The old 5.5 are better than the 4.0. But you lose points for saying A45 is nice, it's one long fart.
4C another flat fart. The Viper and Hellcat- I'll stand corrected but they're hardly modern engines. And Evora V6? hmmmm. A lot of modern engines have trickery creating character where there isn't. Go somewhere like Goodwood and listen to all the different types of sound. ALL the modern stuff is not as good as the old. Because noise is inefficiency. |

Noise doesn't really have anything to do with efficiency at the levels we are talking. Every car still needs a muffler...
It's more simple than that. Add a turbocharger and the sound gets worse because higher harmonics are muffled. This is compounded by the near-fact that engines with fewer cylinders sound worse as well. What you end up with is the realization that it is very difficult to produce a 4 cylinder turbo engine that sounds like anything other than a flat fart. The new Corvette engines sound good and are modern (direct injection, etc.), but they are NA or supercharged and are V8s. Same for the Mustang V8 engines. |

looks wise, GT4 > GTS > M2 > 981 > 781.

So the rear of the M2 looks similar to a 330i. Got it. I may need to make an appointment with Pearl Vision.

Oy vey. I mentioned nothing about aggressiveness in my previous post. I will now though.
The M2 is just as aggressive as the M3 and even more so than the M4.

The M3 is closer. At least they gave it a butt. That's the car I was going to get, until I drove both. |

Having driven the 718 S at Barber I think all that's been said about it in the press is totally right. For putting down timed laps it's one of the best options out there esp. given the price. I'm absolutely certain that I would get around Barber faster in a PDK 718 S than a GT4. It's motor and exhaust is uninspiring. There's no way I could buy one and there's a reason that lightly used 981 S's are commanding such high prices.
I store my RS in a garage at the track because it's an annoying (and expensive) road car. When I needed a car to drive to and from the track that could also take on light track duty itself, I chose the M2. It's just so much more fun, more practical and frankly cheaper than either the 718 or a used 981 S. So far I'm very happy with the M2. It's better than I expected. |

It's a real shame that the 718S would likely be the perfect road-going sports car if it weren't for that 4 cyl engine.

A 235 or 240 is plain. That’s the standard for plain in my opinion. The M2 not only looks 10000000 more aggressive than a 235 or 240. It also looks a lot more aggressive than a stock M3 or M4. Are you sure you’re not mistaken M2s for 240i? |

It's not as aggressive looking as the M3, but that doesn't mean it looks the same as 'any 3 series' either. I think the M2 looks plenty aggressive from behind-- but not from the side or front-- in contrast to the M3 and less so the M4. ,
