Picked mine up yesterday having never driven one before. I'm not disappointed, but here are some comments that I have on the car, based on the 350 mile drive home yesterday:
I'd almost certainly have still gone with the M2, but I can totally see why an M240i / M235i might be a better fit to those who have this as their only car, or don't get to do that much spirited driving. There are compromises for the handling feel, and I guess not everyone would consider those compromises worth it, even though I, and most of the forum members here do.

Ordered mine w/o test drive. Owned a 228 Track Package with Dinan Stage 1 with 311 WHP. M2 the better vehicle imho. However, as a DD I would say 228/230 is 90% of what the M2 is. |

Ordered mine without test drive - unlikely to find an available M2 with a stick shift that a dealer will even let you test drive, at least here in MD, but I had a 335i with the same seats, same basic engine, and a manual, plus I sat in an M235i before; the clutch and especially the shifter are actually a little more to my liking than what I had in my 335i. I wasn't the least bit worried - if I wasn't certain, I'd have test-driven an M235i or M240i, in the same way I test drove a Mustang 5.0 back when I briefly considered a Shelby GT350 - in both cases, close enough.

Ordered 6/23 from out of state dealer for Performance Center Delivery. Picked it up last week 11/8. Very fun car, great drive home. Absolutely no regrets.

Ordered mine without a test drive. I did at least get to see one parked on the street when I was in NOLA. Ordered it the day after I got back to Houston.

Took delivery having never driven one. I'd seen several in the wild however. Unlike most others who say they have no "regrets" I'll go further and say the M2 blew away my expectations by a big margin in every regard. I own an E92 M3 so the bar was pretty high. The M2 is an amazing drivers car and with MPE one of the best sounding cars on the market.

I got to drive one equipped the same as the one I ordered, but just in MG instead of LBB. I was considering leasing the M3 prior to the test drive... but after driving the M2 I was sold on buying it. The M3 wasn’t fun enough for me to want it longer than 3 years. On the other hand with the M2, I don’t know if there will be cars like this in the future... so it might be a keeper long term.

Prior BMW ownership, have seen the M2 in person, have owned some niche cars in my past, have spent countless hours reviewing YouTube videos, but have not test driven one. That’s good enough for me.

i bought mine without seeing it in person or test driving it. But then I did test drive a m235i in vancouver during my last visit, so more or less I knew what to expect.

First time seeing one in person was when I went to the dealer to build mine. While the sales rep was putting it through the computer there was a LBB one on the floor with some goodies. $80k sticker. He let me sit in it.
Can't wait for my week 51! |

Bought mine sight unseen
Contacted CA outside Chicago that had a allocation that could be modified on 6/23. Did PCD on 11/8. PCD was great and was a good drive home.
Prior to that saw a LBB one on a car transport at an interstate rest area. Spoke to the driver and he said he picked the M2 up in Jacksonville and was taking it to San Francisco. Saw another one in person at a dealer in a nearby city (60 miles away) after I ordered mine. It was LBB, full MP carbon stuff for @ $8K plus $5K dealer market adjustment. Told them I paid MSRP plus got $2K USAA discount from a dealer outside Chicago. They said they did not care, every M2 they had sold for $5K over MSRP and they will sell this one for that too. |
