It's a tough call. My 2018 lci is literally a week away. But the tuning advantages of the s55 are too hard to ignore and my dealer is ok with me cancelling and waiting. With basic bolt ons and tune it would likely be a 120whp difference. For those of us who would take the n55 and add bolt ons and tune the s55 will probably match or slightly exceed it even bone stock. It sounds like mineral gray will be gone. I hope Hockenheim Silver is not baby blue like Silverstone 2.

Too bad the M2 keeps creeping up there in pricing... my 2017 is still looking like a really good deal! I think it was around $66K with freight and PDI and all those other little extras the dealer puts on (before taxes).
Yes, but I've now test driven 2 2018 RS3s and found them to be, honestly, a bit bland. No real edge, no manual transmission option, and pretty darn smal, as well as fairly boring on the outside too.

Drove a M3 Competition today, and that was fabulous. The dealer wouldn't let me drive the M2 they had in stock. But I have to assume that is also awesome.

I hope that BMW wouldn't get rid of Mineral Gray if HS was a light silver. If it's close to the rendering approximation then I would be in heaven.

65k is the sweet spot IMO, which is where the M2 was when it debuted. Once you start putting a seven instead of a six in front of things, it really changes perception. I think guys that got in early made for better value, especially since I actually prefer the pre-LCI lights.
The RS3 sounds like a really good deal... if you can accept it will be really fast but not much fun to drive or look at. Better interior and sound system too - so if you sit in traffic a lot that and the DCT are definite pluses.

But if your point is the RS3 is just as good if not better priced than the M2... an argument could be made.

I love swinging the rear end out in a corner too much to give up my M2 though

The M2 is a good value, the RS3 is a great value. The TTRS is essentially the same car with a few obvious tweaks and it's 10k more to start.

I'm not saying one is better than the other, they are very different cars and accomplish different things.

Well, all this economic and political uncertainty combined with the spectre of a new flavour of M2 is doing nothing for the value of my M2 so I think I will sell it and wait for my new M2 Competition. I will still have my DD M140i.

Plus I am driving 2,000 miles a week so the poor M2 is just not being used. And before you ask, no, not murdering the M140i with that mileage. Murdering a Mercedes 220D Sport Estate.

And if the M2 looks like a mid year arrival I will buy an Up! GTI in January to play with until the M2 turns up.

The 2018 VW Polo GTI will be available in the second half of next year. 2.0 TSI 200hp 6MT and DSG automatic, 4-door 5-seater with 351 litre boot space. According to development engineers a big fun zippy car. Approximately the same size as one of the previous VW Golf generations. Keep an eye on it if you're in the market for a small car like the Fiat 500 Abarth etc.

You have an M140i as a daily driver that you don't use. Got it. Also an M2 that don't use. Worth every penny. Enjoy that 220D!

EDIT: It was late when I made this reply. 2000 miles in a week is a A LOT of miles. I thought that was a month, sorry.

Let me get this right?! you are selling your M2 because you are worried about values and going to wait for your M2 Comp!?

I ordered my M2 at 8am on launch day from the biggest (and only) BMW dealer directly owned by BMW themselves and it took 15 months to come (even though they got the largest allocation across the UK).

So goodluck - you should have your M2 Comp (if you even get one) some time in 2019, just at the CSL (or whatever they call it) is coming out

I think I had the first M2 in Wales and I ordered the next flavour of M2 before I picked up my M2 so I am number 1 on the list in Cardiff. I keep trying to retire hence having the M140i and the M2. (My racing pushbike fits in the M140i but not in the M2 !). But I picked up a new interim role 260 miles from home which the client gave me the Merc for. There is logic in there....!

Which dealers? I thought all UK dealerships were franchise owned? Added to the fact that many groups claim to get "the best allocations" Sytner seem to actually have the lions share of dealerships and allocations from previous experience.

I believe that’s Park Lane. I’ve read they get a larger allocation of sought after models too

That depends of what you mean. Just a tune gives it round 410 hp and 430 hp with exhaust/downpipe. But the engine itself is good for atleast 600 hp if you want to upgrade turbos and so on.

I ordered the CS/Competition/Whatever before I picked up my first M2 in May 2016. I know we didn't have any idea of what it was going to be called, just a matter of getting yourself at the top of the list.
