Yes. I suggested the same elsewhere. Could be a B58 derived motor.

I would love to see the M2 CSL/GTS happen and highly hope that it will come in at least a bit under GT4 money. 6MT preferred as well.

Gentlemen, I'm catching up on the last 10 pages of this thread. I didn't see it anywhere, so I'll ask... is there any news leak as to likely production number? Thank you in advance.

Some oil on the fire...
I read something on a German forum and someone was saying the following; The M2 CS is coming this summer and will replace the normal M2... The M2 GTS wil be coming in 2018 as a limited production run... Who know what is true...but a M2 CS and GTS seems not realistic in my opinion... Maybe a M2 wit some kind of competition package (like the M3/M4) but those package are mostly available after the release of a GTS model (or CSL model).

Nothing about Scott's comments suggest it will replace the base M2.
Personally, I think characterizing it as an M2 replacement is bad terminology, even if the base M2 does cease production. The M2 CS won't sell at the same price point as the current base M2. The current car is just too inexpensive at $52,700 starting price to be "replaced" with a CS model. Based on this, I think it's more accurate to express the possibility as a discontinuation of the base M2, and the addition of a new model (M2 CS/GTS/whatev).

If this is the case then I would be more than happy. An M2 with the S55, M3/4s interior, more CF implentation, and a 6MT for $60-63K would be exactly what I'm looking for.

Read a few comments saying that there is availability of the vanilla GT350, particularly last year's model. It's the R version that gets the big markup. Just what I've heard though. Still it's tough to pay 60+K for a mustang no matter how good the engine and handling is. If I'm cheaping out of an M2 CS I'd probably just go for a 1LE and save the 20+K.

I tried to order a 1LE at 4 dealers. Two would only sell stuff off the lot. One told me he would call me back after talking to an "ordering specialist" and never did. And one was willing to order, but only at $400 off sticker before incentives. Stupid Chevy dealers.
GT350 sounds great and seems to get rave reviews but the dealers won't let me test drive one. It's also really big, bigger than Camaro and M4 even. And then at the higher end I could order a poverty spec Grand Sport with just the bucket seats, but then I'm stuck with the Chebby crap again. The new Supra/Z5 looks intriguing.. |

I have a gt350 mine was 57k you can do 60k. Its a big car! The appeal to me of the m2 was the size more at then the price. Though with the CS rumor and the maxed turbo on the m2 I'd be highly annoyed if it was replaced by a CS variant if that wasn't substantially more expensive
Oddly a lot of BMW guys bought 350s it's a strange world. |
