I recently purchased this kit (with plug'n'play harnesses) from a fellow forum member and installed Eldor coils pn R1705S00100.

The install was simple with a couple of caveats:

1) the instructions say to remove the ground wire and threaded stud (which also holds down the pair of injectors). I found that removing the nut from the studded bolt was sufficient for the purpose here. I would suggest not removing the bolt and taking compression off of the injectors.

2) the plastic channel that houses the wiring to the coils caused an interference with the larger head on the #6 B58 coil. I removed the channel and added 5/8" split loom. So far, it is holding up ok.

3) here is the biggest consideration: the "Plug and Play" adapters. I found that they clipped into the existing wiring and plugged into the coils ok. However, upon first test drive, with F8S plug gaps at .028", cylinder 2 was having major misfires at 4000rpm in 2nd gear. I swapped coils 1 and 2 to see if that would help and the problem disappeared, instead of moving to cylinder 1. This leads me to believe that there is a connection issue and now I am looking to splice the B58 connectors into the stock harness like chetrickerman. Perhaps he can chime in on how to remove that plug from the back of the engine? *please* I was fumbling around back there blindly but couldn't quite figure it out.

Anyway, after that initial stumble, the car runs great at 22psi on new F8S plugs and FACTORY .028" GAP. This car runs better than ever. Timing corrections don't necessarily look better than new S55 Delphi coils I just swapped out but I wouldn't expect the stock coils to work at .028" (I had them at .020" as per Paul Johnson recommendation).

Overall I would say *nice upgrade* for stock turbos on ethanol. Just have to splice in the connectors for peace of mind and reliability.

Here is a datalog from tonight running E62 22psi stock turbos.

Try "OEM dwell" in drop-down menu.

I tried OEM and B58 coil settings (both worked) but if it was a setting issue, the problem would be global and not isolated to one cylinder.
