Hi,
Welcome to my build thread. The purpose of this thread is to document everything done to this car. Feel free to chime in with ideas for modifications! A Bit About Me I've been into cars for as long as I can remember. When I was 16, I asked my father for a 350z. I got his old 2005 Explorer Sports Trac. It was a great truck and I genuinely enjoyed not having to worry too much about it. I dreamt of owning a 350z, a 370z, then a g37. I ended up keeping the truck until my junior year of college. I passed it on to my grandfather with 350k miles on the original engine. I needed something more efficient as I was driving 2 hours to work at my family's business. I took the 2013 sonata hybrid we had laying around. Throughout college, I had plenty of friends with 3 series, 4 series, and a few Ms. One of my friends had a 2016 M2 that I got to ride in. I decided that's what I would buy myself after I landed a job after graduating with my BS in Chemical Engineering. God bless anyone still going through that program. Fast forward 1.5 years later and I finally built up a comfortable amount of money to purchase an M2 and not change any of my other investing habits. I purchased a 2017 M2 DCT in LBB with 34,000 miles on it from another enthusiast off of bimmerpost after he secured his allocation for his M2 CS. On 11/10/20, I finally took delivery of my M2. I have attached a few photos of my first day with it. Excuse the quality as I was too excited to bring out my DSLR. I hope to get some proper pics up on my Instagram shortly. The Build Exterior

11/12: So I've owned the car for a few days now and I have some thoughts:
The speakers sound pretty good especially if you code in the new f22 eq. I may not need those etons after all. I am not into crazy bass anymore and I think the stock system sounds good enough for me. I'll still be disconnecting the center speaker. The car is begging for spacers! I'll be putting those on shortly. The car sounds and looks fantastic. I can't stop giggling when I let off the gas or downshift. I plan on tackling the black kidney grill and taillights over the weekend. I've just inquired about a roof wrap so we will see what comes of it. Also, I'll be ordering the tre performance mirror housings shortly. 11/14: My stock steering wheel and akrapovic cf mirror caps are now up for sale. Today, a friend helped me install the grill and lci taillights. I also got around to disconnecting the center speaker. Guys, please do this. For a sec, I thought that legendary 2 series post about audio was full of super picky listeners. Let me explain the difference from someone who does not consider themselves an audiophile but can recognize good sound quality: you can tell that the the door tweeters actually work now. There is no music coming at your face from the front. The system is no longer "noisy" and sounds quite a bit clearer. I'll probably go through with the etons if I can not resell them. All three of these mods made a huge difference. 12 mm Spacers tomorrow! 11/16: I installed my 12 mm spacers. Perfect stance now 11/28: I've been messing with the idea of some apex wheels. Specifically looking at Anthracite EC-7 18x9.5 ET35 square with Michelin PS4 275/35-18. I'm going to add it to my "way in the future" list as I have a set of 19 inch PSS to get through next summer still. It's also pretty much impossible to sell 437ms here unless they're ferric grey. 11/29: I activated full screen Apple CarPlay and also added some reverse light tint.

This car is so strange because it does not sound or look great on video! I'll have to work on capturing the exhaust sound!

@SebsM2 I was actually thinking of buying a set of window visors w/deleted labels. Was it annoying removing the sticker off yours?
I agree with you on the exhaust situation. It's hard getting a quality video for me as well.

Here's a quick pic of 12 mm spacers installed. I'm on kw v3 coilovers and quite low. Hopefully I won't rub once the coilovers settle down.

I'm planning to try and tuck 19x11 et37's in the back. This adds up to pushing the tire out 13mm overall with 275/35/19's. I'm going to grab 12mm spacers and roll around for a bit and see if I rub at all, I'm also on KW V3's, although, I don't think I'm silly low.

Today's project is the LED front turn signals, cabin air filter, and cf winglet removal. I'll be buying my new lip and possibly mirror caps next week!

Looks awesome! Absolutely love the color and stance...must handle on rails!
Would be so fun to have one of these as my "extra" project car just like this, however I'm thankful to have my X3 M40i project daily driver haha. I'll live vicariously through you with this awesome M2, can't wait to see what's next! |
