It's too bad the RS3 is visually the automotive equivalent of Ambien. Such great interiors, great fit and finish, strong engines, why did Audi have to make it so boring to look at?

Truth. One of the most boring designs I've ever seen on a performance car. Looks like a Jetta. I especially hate the new taillight design for all Audi cars in this generation.. Previous gen looked amazing, this one looks like someone accidentally cut off the tops.

You can watch the circuit or back road based tests and you will not find a single one where the Audi is faster or as highly regarded.
Wet weather obviously would favour the Audi...

To anyone who is considering the RS3 I can tell you first hand, just go drive it and see which car you buy.

Proves the M2 got beat in power to power straight line performance by the Audi. Until they put the S55 in there that is.

Guys If roll racing,1/4 mile racing or half mile is your thing I found it surprising and impressive. It’s a popular thing .lots of folks are into just straight line performance and some folks are into autox,road racing and straight line like myself. This is not to push the Audi as the great messiah but as a car enthusiast I can appreciate what this little car does in a straight line. I have heard they handle pretty well too. I thought the M was going to catch it back or at least eat it in the roll race.

Hey I’m sure other Euro car aficionados who are not open minded say the same 2things about our BMWs. Not that anyone cares but I have owned at least three of
the major Euro Marques , 3BMWs(2 were M3s),AMG C55,and an Audi S4.
So if I want a straight track beast it will be a Porsche 911 or 911 turbo before anything else.

German magazine SportAuto (The best Magazine for sport car tests in my opinion) tested M2, RS3, AMG45, CRV etc.
Please note that the M2 outperforms RS3 in every way but 0-100 and 0-200.
Esp note "Elastizitet" where M2 out accelerates RS3.

This is a summary quote:

IMO It looks like a souped up TDI and it has 255/30 19 tyres up front and 235/35 19 tyres at the back, a very elegant solution

Their design really is shocking these days. Definition of bland looks and flat surfaces. Most still remind me of the group B6 Passat!

Could not agree more. I looked at them before buying my M2, but the exterior styling is about as boring as it gets. There is no style in the exterior lines of the RS3.

As a former owner of a '06 RS4 (B7) sedan, I can't tell you how much a downer both the RS3 and RS5 are from a visual standpoint. Frankly, minus the nice "audi-bass mouth" front, the rest of the cars look identical to their S'x' sisters.

This a big reason why I'm so interested in the M2. Even in its current incarnation, the visual of the car checks all my boxes.

Nice! Quite a few roadracers and autox guys I know with Porsches,Vettes and Ferraris run the 1/2 mile too!!

The RS3 is a great car.....for the wife

The RS3 will still take the M2 Comp with the S55 from a dig, just like it will take a 600 HP M6 w/ Comp package from a dig. It can repeatedly hit 60 in under 4s due to AWD, DCT, and launch control.

It traps ~115 mph whereas the M2 traps 110-113. The M2 Comp should trap somewhere around 116-117 just like a base M3/4 and therefore walk an RS3 from a roll.

400hp AWD Vs 365hp RWD ... Even with the new S55 M2, RS3/TTRS will win a straight line. Audi did a great job with engine power output and sound, and interior. But I can't stand the exterior, just to imagine me waking up every day and take a look at my super boring RS3 is a nightmare, maybe they will get it right with the next generation.

Yeah but its a 5 cylinder,AWD,gearing,weighs more, just figured the M would have caught it back at least up top. Looks are debatable,I could care less, but to me the BMW looks better and the vid is fun to see. I like seeing these car races roadracing even more.
