The only explanation I can think of that would have it in production for 4 weeks is that there is a 2 week summer-shutdown - and maybe cars can sit half-built on the line for those 2 weeks.

Does anybody have insight into that idea? I thought I read somewhere on these forums that the LPZ plant is indeed shut down for the last 2 weeks of July. Which might explain why I can't recall hearing of anybody with build week 29, 30, or 31.
Excellent point. Status 150 is technically in production or preparing for production right? So it might just be 150 but then officially starting after the summer recess which would correspond with the Aug 15 completion date. Who knows...

Mine was scheduled to start production on week 37. Called BMW Genius yesterday and apparently the production is now scheduled to finish August 14th!
The rep told me that all M cars are on some sort of engineering review hold. Anyone knows what's this all about?

I would love to know how the heck all of you got bumped from 37 up to "much sooner." Mine has been 37 since the day it was given to me and hasn't changed yet. Granted, I haven't been calling every day, more like once a week or so, but it's always been week 37. So weird.

Yeah you guys prompted me to call BMW Genius just now. No change on my order either, Week 37 from day 1 and still week 37 as of today.

Anyone considering PCD? After reading a couple of posts, I really want to do it but delivery of our week is around late October early November. I live in Illinois, Chicago area, and I dunno if it makes sense to make the venture cause of the possible snowfall the Midwest might get. Anyone have any thoughts?

It looks like your desired date is probably not workable for PCD in South Carolina. I have no idea about California PCD.

California PCD? Is BMW doing that at Thermal now?

I thought about it, I even have a work location not super far from there so I can probably expense a good chunk of the mileage and the plane flight down there... but I really don't like that you are effectively screwed if there is something wrong with the car (paint damage / etc) and you've already signed your paperwork and "accepted" the car. Plus, the drive back home to Cleveland is all highway miles, constant RPM, etc... the worst thing for break-in.

Also don't like having to try to schedule PPF / ceramic coating / etc down in that area rather than using installers near home that I trust.

I asked my CA this exact question and according to him not yet. They're working on it though.

Nope. Unless this is very very recent. There are threads about this and BMW stated that they have no plans to do PCD at Thermal.

I still can't make up my mind between 6MT and DCT. I originally spec'd the car 6MT, and I enjoy rowing a stick for fun... but then I drive my current car in traffic and I get so irritated with dealing with clutch and shifter. I enjoyed driving dual-clutch on my previous car; even though my left leg and right arm got bored at times, being able to put it in D in traffic is awesome, and then put it in manual and use paddles like a rally driver is also awesome (plus frees up the left leg for left foot braking). I learned to work with the DSG instead of against it, so I didn't really experience too many situations where the transmission was in the wrong gear and I was waiting for it to catch up.

I almost feel like with how much of the work BMW takes away from you (rev-match / anti-stall stuff) on the 6MT, it makes more sense to just go DCT and also get the benefit of 7th gear and lightning-fast shifts and launch control.

But DCT is $3k that will cover winter wheels and some other mods easily... And I feel like this is going to be one of the last performance cars that can be had in manual and I would kick myself for not taking that route. Plus manual is cheaper to maintain long-term (no expensive fluid changes). Both my dad and brother will laugh at me behind my back if I go DCT as well - that's a minor concern, but I'd be lying if I said it didn't matter a little bit.

If you're on the fence, I'd prob recommend you go with DCT - and this is coming from a die-hard stick-shift guy. Why? 'Cause if you're on the fence, I think DCT is the safer play. I never get irritated 'dealing' with the clutch and shifter, even in traffic - I simply get annoyed from being in the crappy traffic. Point is, if you're not of the same mentality, I think DCT may be the better bet for you. After all, the DCT is no slushbox and, while it's not my choice, lots of folks enjoy changing gears with the paddles.

Week 37 comrades, we have one more week or so to change our orders before our cars go into production. Just called toll free number, my car is still in status 111, may change soon. Woohoo...

My week 37 just went to status 112 as of yesterday. Try calling Genius instead.

It's 112 now. "Your vehicle is scheduled for production, no production date yet".

Mine's been 112 for quite some time now, but maybe it went 112 early 'cause it's an ED order.

Was about to say 'no' as I've tried it 2 or 3 times before, but it just accepted my production number this time, so 'yes'.

Same here, was finally able to get it added although the tracking didn't initially show up for me. Just checked again and I can see it now.
