After much contemplation on the M2 LCI vs M2 Comp, I decided to pull the trigger on a 2018 LCI M2. I reached out to my CA and within a few hours they were able to locate exactly what I wanted sitting at the port waiting to hitch a ride to the states. They made a swap with the dealer the car was headed to and secured it for me. Painless process! ETA is around 20 June.

Config:
BSM
6 MT
Exec Pkg
Wheel Locks - Spline Style

Total MSRP (inc. Destination): $57,710
Price - $55,390
Additional dealer discount - $1,275 (dealer rewards dollars for servicing my other BMW's there)
USAA discount - $2,000
Final Price $52,115 + State taxes & $499 Doc Fee

At over $2k under invoice I couldn't pass up the deal. No doubt the M2 Comp will be awesome, but getting one below MSRP will be tough. Add the $4,400 base price increase and I'm looking at a $10k difference between that and my LCI. I just couldn't justify the extra premium (plus I wanted my M2 now )

I got mine for 2k under invoice as well and also couldn't justify the extra 10k even though I really wanted the M2C. Next time...

Like any other commodity, price is determined by age, condition, and content.

In my instance I bought a car with a $67k sticker that was a few months old. The idea that one could buy that for under $50k has no basis in reality. The wholesale numbers are higher than that.

MSRP here in Canada.
BMW Parkview. (Toronto, ON)

However, got my MPE option with about 20 % discount + about 35 % discount on MP CF parts that I have installed from my dealer. (FYI, all Canadian M2s will have MPE port installed and MP parts dealer installed)

Based on this article and this one...the M4 is not "considerably" or "a lot" faster as you have stated. If you mean stock configurations when you talk about "out of the box" then see above article as they're both stock.

The feeling of the cheap interior and the M4 being more comfortable is subjective and I guess that's the opinion you're taking about.

I have no idea how the M2C will fare against the M4, but this is what I have ordered. The only butthurt I am is my ass is sore from sitting in this chair surfing this stupid forum desperately seeking the next morsel of information on the M2C, which I will continue to do until I receive mine.....and probably after.

I am normally a pretty adept car negotiator but the local dealer, who has two M2's, doesn't want to negotiate. Are the people getting $2k under invoice, on new cars, in California? Or, put another way, where are those deals happening? Thanks.

I think it is very much a local issue. My dealer would not discount the car at all, however I was able to order exactly what I wanted (stripped 6MT MG with no options at all) and I did get an acceptable trade in value on my 2013 135i coupe. Unlike in California, we in Idaho get credit against the sales price for the trade in, when it comes to the sales tax due. The only other option for me would have been a long distance purchase, with the next closest dealer being 4.5 hours drive away, and that dealer not having a better reputation for "dealing" than my own, so probably would have required a 10 hour or longer drive, plus loss of the trade in value since trying to trade in a sight-unseen car at long distance is really a risky proposition. End of the story is that it may have cost me a couple of thousand dollars net to deal locally, but the convenience and the value of my own time made the transaction, as done, worthwhile.

Although not totally enamored with the sales dept. at my dealership, the rest of the dealership, especially the service dept., has treated me exceptionally well over the years with multiple cars, and continues to do so. Also, I have business interests in the city and benefit from the patronage of local customers, so there is at least a quasi-justifiable reason to deal locally since if one participates in the local economy, especially as a business owner, one does tend to get things back in the long run.

If you don't have a trade in, or if your state doesn't give you a break on the sales tax with a trade in to the dealer, and if you have free time to spare to do long distance automobile purchasing deals, then the calculus may shift.

PM me my original order for my M2 ended up going through. I'm in NorCal and my original deal was 2k under MSRP.

Thanks. Others have suggested $2k below invoice. I am seeking that rather than $2k below MSRP.

Good luck. I don’t think anyone is going to sell you an M2 below dealer invoice.

Several other people, above, have posted exactly that. I did that for an M4 a couple years ago but I realize M2s are somewhat scarce.

Have one dealer currently at $500 over invoice for any M2 in stock. So heading in the right direction.

There is more to life than saving a modest amount of money on a car deal. Or, as my business partner put it when I criticized him for filling his car up at the most expensive gas station in the area when we were going out to check the progress on our latest location, "you don't make a lot of money worrying about shit like that."
