Just talked to my SA yesterday since I am on the MY18 wait list. He said he didn't know anything about MY18 changes, price, or spec...blah, blah, blah... then he said "but if you want MY17 we have several allocations now and you can order it right away." I think that's more likely the case now, before they get rid of all the MY17 allocations they were not allowed to talk anything about MY18.

Will this be true for everyone? I hate to bother my dealer with "someone on the internet says" if it's not going to apply to them. But I am eager to get my order in. Thanks

Do you have a price sheet / order guide?

Order bank is open which means they can add an order to the order bank but won't have an allocation yet until BMW fills them with a production number. From my last search, only a handful of dealers got allocations for MY18.

And no, the official order/pricing is not available yet

Thanks. Are these configurable at this point?

An order entered in to the order bank can be any configuration/specs that you want. They will be in status "047" which means order entered with no production number.

Once an order in the order bank is assigned an allocation production spot, it will change to status "111" which means order accepted and a confirmed production week is revealed.

Status "112" means the order will soon enter production in the factory and any final changes to the configuration/specs must be made ASAP. Once it hits status "150", production has started, no further configuration/spec changes can be made, and a VIN is assigned.

Can the dealer request an allocation build week for an order in the bank? For instance, if a customer desires to take delivery at the Welt in September, then can the order bank accommodate a request of this nature now?

When a dealer submits an order in to the order bank in 047, they have a list of build dates within the models production period that they can choose from. Just a reminder that in order to start the process of securing a ED date, the dealer needs an allocation/production spot in 111. So a dealer can not just add an order in to the order bank in 047 and start the ED process as BMW ED team will reject it without a allocation/production slot.

Assuming your dealer has an allocation/build slot with XX/XX/XX build week and since you would do ED and your required delivery date is September, the dealer would submit your preferred dates in September and if the factory can/will accommodate it, they will move the build week to that week for you. So for instance, if the build week was for August and you requested September and they are able to accommodate you, they'll shift the build week to the later time frame. They are more so iffy about speeding up the build which in your case you are not. You are actually pushing it further.

Dealer called. I'm in the order bank, and he's hoping for allocation tomorrow. No info on options, colors, pricing, etc. yet.
