Very nice build. Been wanting to get down to Leno's garage but haven't had time. If I do, I'll post up any interesting rides he has (I'm sure all are, but we'll see lol).

I've seen Leno on the freeway in various cars and met him a few times. He was a judge at a car show I was in and brought his SJ Duesy. He was a nice guy until some dumbass placed her purse on the hood of the car. He tore her a new one and deservedly so.

This M1 build is badass..the exhaust IS music...but it might grow a bit tiresome unless you cruise it in 6th to make it livable in a DD. Kudos to the owner...sweet project.

Thank you. I wanted to take photos in the garage of some of the cars but we signed paperwork saying we would not. They have so much stuff in there and have plans to do a lot of content with it, so they do not want any spoilers leaked. Jay is the man.

The video actually makes the car seem a bit louder than it is.

Oh really? No pics? Surprising since most of his stuff has been shown. Guess we'll see since my visit isn't going to video'd and a friend of mine works for him...lol. He has a ton of toys. Chances are if you see a classic on the 101 freeway that is perfect, it's his and/or him driving it. You can't miss him in his convertibles (or driving his pumper Firetruck).

yeah, i dont know if they are being more protective of the cars since the tv show started. he did have some new stuff moving in.

Awesome conversion. Congratulations for the labour of love. I love the GT3 reference as it looks like a proper GTS (or CSL) that BMW never made based on the 1 series.

Great job! Can't say enough how cool that car is.
Are the 1M fenders and rear 1/4 BMW original? The rears seem even wider then a stock 1M. I love fender flares They don't make cars like that anymore aside from the F80.

Thank you. The S65 only weighs 15 more lbs than an n54 and sits further back. The s65 transmission is heavier but due to it being low and more toward the center of the car, it doesn't compromise anything. The car with the v8 entirely preserves the factory balance and dynamics. What really sets it apart from the e92 is it is over 400lbs lighter, while still keeping all street amenities, and has a shorter wheel base.

You have a keen eye. These steel arches are slightly wider than a factory 1m.

The e92 m3 GTS is an amazing car and a huge source of inspiration in my car. My car puts down more power, has better suspension, and is lighter. I would expect it to be quicker.

Marco, if I may, I'm curious about your intake/hood setup.
The stock induction system on the S65 was designed with the hood inlet/vent as one of the three main air inlets as described in the following BMW diagram, the other two being the inlet behind the double kidney-grilles and the inlet in the bumper.


Even though your hood is weight optimized being carbon fiber (based on the video), I noticed there is no hood vent/inlet a la the E9X M3 hood so with your hood closed, the air inlet guide on your intake that sits where the hood inlet would be is effectively blocked from receiving air.

Was this deliberate? Or was there a discussion with the guys who worked on the project? Obviously a Dinan 4.6L is far from stock, but I couldn't help but notice that your air intake system follows the shape of OEM S65 intake but the hood doesn't have the inlet.
