Another great link. Maybe all this coverage will give the M2 cs/csl/gts a chance to be great. Hope someone at BMW is reading/watching all this.

Now, at the risk of being burned at the stake, I still think Marco's build (i.e., S65 1er) is how the BMW 1M should've been from the factory and this is still one of my favorite builds . Can't wait to watch this later.

Very cool, I watched this video last night...... and ordered some carbon rev wheels today! I was astounded they made a 1M specific fitment.

Just out of curiosity, what's the price for a set of these carbon wheels? I went to their site and they claim the wheels are 18.3lbs for the fronts and 19.6lbs for the rears. I have a set of really cheap Apex ARC-8 18x10 for the track that are under 20lbs each and I'm wondering where the benefit of carbon is relative to the cost. I can't imagine them being anywhere under $10k for a set. I would also assume carbon wheels to be much lighter too ~16-17lbs for 19s".

It is not all about weight. The key is really in strength.

A Carbon is 13x stronger than an identical aluminum wheel and 40% lighter. So while there are many aluminum wheels, which lighter than the Carbon Rev's, they are no where near as strong and stiff. They achieve lightness through material subtraction. The ultra lightweight aluminum wheels actual flex quite a bit and overtime through driving under regular road conditions will infact deform. Interestingly, the carbon wheels also absorb more road shock as well, which made my car more comfortable.

BMX,
Always loved the work and effort you put into this car.

Truly amazing and glad this car is being promoted through reviewers like Leno so car connoisseurs everywhere can appreciate.

Btw, what engine is now residing in the e92 m3 you have in your possession?

Congrats.

Love your build. Its THE perfect 1 series for sure.

Did Jay mishift your car in the video? Sounded like it when he apologized.

Unless you're into collecting, I wouldn't waste your time. I owned a 1M and an E92 M3 and I never came to love N54. The 1M would have been so much better with an S65.

Ugh, just absolutely amazing. Still one of my favorite builds ever. Looks just as menacing as it sounds/performs. Great review.

I'm curious how does it all go down at Mr. Leno's facility.
Do you get to small talk with him or meet any of his techs off camera? Did you get to browse any of the collection?
You came across composed and pretty relaxed, I thought you were a great BMW ambassador.
Thank you. I had no idea what to expect before showing up. They just invited me and gave me a time and location and we showed up.

His garage really is in two sections. He has a warehouse where he restores and maintains his cars. It is huge. Like a factory huge. High ceilings, lifts, and dozens of projects in various states. That shop also had a really nice full kitchen, pool table and hangout area. He even had a huge outdoor style BBQ and a giant hood for it.

The other warehouse houses his collection and really is more of a museum dedicated to his interests than anything else. All of the cars in his collection are spaced out and arranged so they can all drive in and out of the garage. He regularly drives and enjoys all his cars. It was awesome to tour around there and I actually found myself asking more questions about the artwork than the cars.
That's just awesome!

I can never get enough of the sound that this car makes. Not for the faint of heart but sounds sooooooo good.

Marco is a unique enthusiast that appreciates the full build and attention to detail. He also understands cars are made to be driven, and driven regularly. Best part of this build is it gets used, its not a show car or a dyno queen but a car for a driver; a dedicated enthusiast who simply appreciates great cars. The car and the owner deserve all the love it gets. Congrats again Marco.

The e92 was given the 4.0L that the 1series had before. It was a two lift job.

Despite enjoying this car as a FBO 135i, 4.0 1m3, and later 4.6L 1m3, the factory 1m still has a huge place in my heart. I would love to own a stock white 1m.

Thank you guys. I can't say enough how much different the Dinan 4.6L is from the factory 4.0 . Seriously an honor to be at SEMA with you guys. I really appreciate everything.

My new favorite episode of Jay Leno's Garage, congrats on making the show!!! This car has a place in history at this point, good work.

Would love to hear if the factory really did consider making this, though I imagine it was a short conversation if so. S55 into M2 is their next opportunity (not NA though I know).
