My car arrived at the dealer before dawn on Thursday. If yours does the same - and you've requested your CA to get on it - seems like a Thursday afternoon delivery is do-able.

BTW - I could see when my car was delivered via the UnitedRoad website. If your car is released to UnitedRoad (not the only trucking company BMW uses), you can see it there. Click on Delivery Receipt, enter last 8 of VIN (that's right last 8, not last 7).

When were you able to search your car? Did it leave the port on Monday, or since your dealer is fairly close, most likely it left Wednesday I'd have thought...

Saw on UnitedRoad website 10/5, morning (Thursday). Didn't think to check before then.
Arrived at dealer 10/5 3:35am. (according to UnitedRoad Delivery receipt - see my post in the wk33 thread)
Delivered 10/6 (Friday)

I had a 3 day port to dealer time. Morning Courier docked on Friday and I took delivery Monday in LA, car was in my garage that same night. If its anything like how mine went you’ll be picking up well before Thursday.

You can save a day depending on what you want your dealer to do. I wanted shipping plastics left on per the advice of my xPel/ceramic installer. He insisted that I tell the dealer to not run the car through the wash as it will only add swirl marks.

Picked it up today... spent more time getting the deal done and then showing the car to my dad than actually taking pics of it.

Walked into the dealership to this:


Then revealed... hope it wasn't nasty / dirty on the inside of that blanket.


Already did a mod though... Parking sensor disable button

Looks great! I am super into that mod, although not to turn off the sensor. The LCI turns off almost immediately. But I'd like to be able to see what's behind me sometimes without shifting into reverse.

How did the DIY go?

I'll have to double check it, but I'm pretty sure that you can't see the camera without reverse. The screen comes up and shows you the backup sensors, but no camera display. You can fiddle the knob to the camera icon on the screen, but it won't turn on. At least that is what I remember from playing with it after dinner tonight.

As far as DIY, took me around 30 minutes, but some of that was figuring out how to release the module, and then some more was figuring out how to safely pop off the switches and swap them (I put the OEM Sport/Comfort switch into the normal 2er module instead of living with "Sport / EcoPro"). Would be a lot quicker without that detail.

Pop up the shifter surround (pull at the corners, assuming 6MT). Didn't take a lot of force for me. Once it is up, get the stick out of the way, and reach around the front edge of the module - there's a tab, push it toward the back of the car and that should allow you to work it up and loose. Remove the plug (squeeze on two opposing sides) and you're free. If you don't care about the rocker switch label being wrong, reverse the procedure with the new module and you're done.

If you're going to swap the rocker switch, you'll want several small picks or awls, I suppose small flatheads would work; that's to release the plastic trim from around the face. The little silver accent will fall out after this. Work carefully on each tab and don't lift them too far. I went from the ESP edge of the module and worked my way down. Once it's off, I poked a straight pick into the visible hole in the rocker and pushed in while prying upward. That popped off just the one side a little bit, and I took the pick and poked across the gap to the other plastic eye that is under the switch, pushing it wider and off of the center support post, while trying to work it loose with my other hand. Popped off pretty easily. Be careful with picks so you don't trash the button edges too much, but the silver accent frame and plastic face trim will help hide stuff.

That's correct, but I don't think BMW has a VPC in Seattle so all of the cars are already off...

As far as I know, BMW only has VPC in Halifax, Baltimore, Galveston and Port Hueneme.

My CA is still working to a Thursday afternoon / Friday morning delivery, but it's not really in his hands. It depends how long the VPC process takes. My dealer is pretty close to the port, but my concern actually is that there were 1,035 BMWs on the Thalatta... that's a huge number of cars to VPC.

There were 1176 offloaded from Fedora with my car. And my car got to my dealer in the time frame you'd require for your Thursday afternoon/Friday morning delivery.

What does Genius have to say about VPC progress of your car? I'm betting you'll make it.

I've been sick all day with something like food poisoning, but I did manage to call the Genius line. They said it's scheduled to finish VPC tomorrow, and ship Thursday. I'm not sure if they know how close the dealer is but they said delivery Friday.

If the dealer actually gets the car Friday, I may be out of luck, but your description of events would lead me to believe if it ships Thursday, it will arrive Thursday. And if it ships Thursday morning like yours did, a Thursday afternoon pickup should be possible.

Yes, the sensors and beeping are turned off right after you shift to neutral from reverse for 08 LCI M2s. No need for this mod then.

If you haven't already, I suggest you check on UnitedRoad - if your car shows up there before mid-day Thursday you've got a chance of making it. Hope you feel better ... taking delivery might help.
