93/e30 Pump fuel

93 octane fuel is difficult to come by here in Kansas. I discovered this today at a station across town. I'm aware that this is lower octane gas mixed with E85 to bump the octane, but is it safe for our cars? I don't run a tune, and have a track day coming up soon. Searches seem to indicate that my injectors won't keep up without a tune or LPFP. Would really appreciate some input on the safety, and potential benefit of trying this really cheap "93 octane" gas. I'm expecting some solid reasons why I should steer clear....

Should be ok if you mix in 1-3 gallons, did that quite a bit in an E92 335 and F8x M3. Not sure if I'd do it without a tune though.

OP,

IIRC std tune/hardware should cope with ~ e20 content w/o issue.

From you photo, my read is that yr local pump gas goes from 87/e10 thru to 93/e30, such that gas is a low octane base product blended with added ethanol to bump up the octane. The higher the eXX blend, the higher the octane.

I'd run the 91/e20 initially as I think you might struggle with an e30 blend....

Here in the UK, we have SVP fuel [99RON (AKI 95.5-96.5) with e5]. I've add ethanol 1.5-2 imp gallons to a full tank to get a ~e20 blend to boost octane and the car works really well on BM3 OTS racegas & e30 tune as SVP (base product) here has higher octane and less ethanol content as the starting point.

Anyone do this for track days? Add 1-2 gal of E85 to their tank for "safety"

I will be running a 30+% mix of E85 and Pump 93 on my Stg3 BM3 M2C.

I Also have 1 step colder plugs..

Your engine will run a little cooler and of course its great insurance against the engine pulling timing, boost...
