To do or not to do? Recaro Sportser CS in M2

Hi there, everyone.

As I await my allocation, my mind is churning. Mod ideas are running rampant.

That said, I know I dislike the M2's seats. They're just not that great for my body type. FYI: I am 6'8 and 265-270 lbs.

That said, I love the Recaro Sportser CS' and I've driven a couple cars with them and found them to be tremendous. Love the shoulder support and proper bolstering. The good news is that they're not uncomfortable either.

So, is it a no brainer? Won't do any special upholstery or stitching.

Looking forward to the group's thoughts!

I have them in my m3 and love them

I also think the m2 seats suck.

One big advantage is how much lower the seats sit than stock, at least on an e9x, depending on the mounts you use.

They also have great resale value

Go for it!

Make sure you document the process and what coding needs to be done.

If memory serves me right, another member put Recaros in his M2 last year.

EDIT: here is the link to that thread - http://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...ghlight=recaro

Also the forum member clubsport added Recaro Sportser CS seats in his M2. He had issues with coding at EAS so he had the coding done remotely.

I'll try them in the M2 after delivery (within days)

I'll let you know.

You've got to be comfortable to enjoy your car.Sounds like a great idea if they fit and they look good too.

Just keep the OEM seats in a safe place so you can put them back in come sale time.

I wouldn't do it, but that's because I daily drive the car, value the seat memory, and especially value seat heaters. (I know you can get heating on some aftermarket seats, but I've never seen one that ties into the actual factory controls...)

I'm 6'4" and have about 15-20 pounds on the OP... the factory seats felt pretty good to me the couple of times I've been in them. Worlds above my TTRS seats. (Leather itself might not be as nice, but the bolstering felt better.)

I'm really surprised that no one has tried putting the M4 seats in a M2 yet?

Store the stock seats with care and you will also preserve the resale value of the car. It's possible the bump in resale alone will more than make up for the overall cost of the seats.

Hmmm; that is not realistic...nobody is going to pay that extra amount just because that "used" M2 has brand new front seats... Those Recaro Sportster seats are not cheap!
Go for it! Great seats

Nobody pays more for some used cars than others based on condition?

If the rest of the interior is kept nicely then what appear to be brand new seats will help resale.

More than likely however , in a few years time they likely can be either sold to another (high mileage ) M2 or 235 owner or they could be a good upgrade for a 228.

I think I'll go through with it if I can get them installed w/o any coding issues and I can retain heating elements in the Sportster CS that's upholstered in vinyl/alcantara — don't want leather as it will wear to hell on the bolstering.

Let's see what happens.

...Still waiting on my allocation

You should just skip the Recaro seats and do like Hightower did in Police Academy. Just use the back seat as your front seat!
