2018 M2 Coming Soon?

Put a deposit for my M2 yesterday. The dealer said I will get it in late June/early July. He also said it would be the 2018 model. I wonder if anyone else heard about it. Any new features or packages that are expected?

This would be surprising as typically, the model year start of production is with July production.

If you receive your M2 in June it will be a 2017 model as anything produced after July 2017 changes to MY 2018 for the M2.

About 3 weeks ago, my allocation came up with delivery sometime around late may or early June. I made the decision to drop a few spots on the list since I'll be away from home until about July. Doing so put me first on the list for a 2018 MY, with delivery I believe sometime in late July or early August if I remember right. Just bugged him again yesterday for a 2018 ordering guide as I'm interesting in knowing any changes but apparently it hasn't been uploaded yet. He thinks it will be sometime in march before they know the changes.

Do you already have an allocation? Maybe your dealer was estimating you would get your allocation in June/July which would make it a MY 2018.

I got my production number July 4, 2016 and I ended up with MY 2017. Took delivery late October I believe.

He can't have an allocation for an 18 yet. There is still another allocation round of 17's to come yet.

Don't have an allocation. The dealer gave me an estimate.

Dealer says the changes for 2018 should be available by the end of March, including possibly a higher hp model

Maybe to order sure, but not into production.

I agree. Production will probably be in July. I could have gone to a different dealer and taken delivery in late April, but I'd rather wait for a few more months and get the 2018 model.

Well here's a few things to start:

- BMW historically has NEVER produced a new MY before July, so his claims about that are impossible.

- The M2 allocations for April/May/June builds (May/June/July delivery) started to come out last Friday and should be all out by end of the week or sooner. These are all MY17 cars.

- If you don't get an allocation with this batch (which doesn't seem like you will, most people already got them) this means the soonest you can get your car is now August and therefore a MY18.

- The allocations for the next three month batch (July/Aug/Sept) won't be out until May sometime probably.

So for next time, read up and do some research before lashing out at forum members. Remember: most of us went through the M2 ordering bullshit shitshow last year, so we know what's up and have developed a good sense of when these things come out as a forum community.

Appreciate the info. So I have two dealers (both in New Jersey) telling me that they have open slots and can get me a car by April. Do you think that's legit?

Well, that's an easy one to solve just ask them for the production number, they should already have them.

If they have an open allocation (ie. a production number and therefore a real car waiting to be built), they for sure could get you something by April. The deadline to make modifications to the order may be coming up very soon (or already passed).

Great, thanks! I'm a BMW newbie, so it's great when someone can guide you rather than make fun of your lack of knowledge

There will be no increase in HP for the standard M2. Likely talking about the upcoming CS model.

I spoke to a dealer in NYC about the MY2018, and I can confirm you won't be able to order a MY2018 until at least May/June then the production of MY2018 starts after July 1st 2017. I put down 500$ to be first in line when the allocation for MY2018 is out and available to order, but I don't expect to actually see the car until at least late august or so.
