The M2 CS discussion appears to have some similarities with the ongoing Cayman GT4 RS discussion: a more compact, fast, good value-for-money underdog car rumored to get a detuned engine of the bigger brother + hierarchy constraints + zero official info:

Let me clarify. So, for example, when the M2 first became a possibility and people put their name on a list with a dealer, if and when it came out, was someone fifth and line and they ended up with a car?

Likely you need to be #1... or maybe #2 if the dealer sells a lot of M cars. If they did not get an M4 GTS allocation, forget about #2 or lower. |

As others have said, you likely need to be #1 or 2 to get a CS - and at a dealer that received a GTS.

Just be prepared to have limited numbers. I do not see it having a fixed limited number, just a low amount of production slots. Bit like the GT4.

No limited edition (thus no preset production number of x cars). But no mass production either. So, expect availability in limited quantities, more particularly as much as the already very busy Leipzig factory can schedule to handle. No economy degree needed to know that demand will outstrip supply. As seems to become a disturbing trend, supply may suffer from market speculators snatching away slots à gogo, with the only purpose to flip a coin at the expense of enthusiasts arriving later to the party (facing a long queue + the frustration of noticing speculator sharks with zero respect for the party walking up and down the waiting line offering tickets with mark-ups). If you want one and dislike mark-up practices: get in line - don't wait till the official presentation (which I expect to happen someday this Autumn) or launch (2018).

Theoretical exercise (just to get some ball-park figures, so beware) if applied to current EURO-spec pricing (6MT without options): - Germany: €57.5K + 18% = ± €68K (my country: ± €70K) - US: €52.5K + 18% = ± 62K To my eyes, that looks too good to be true, as that's just 'M2 Performance Edition' money (see here). @Q8, are you sure that your dealer wasn't referring to some kind of M2 ZCP (competition package) instead of M2 CS ? However, if it would turn out to be effectively the right ball-park figure (which, I repeat, is hard to believe), then that's a tell-tale sign that - apart from the S55 engine - no substantial differences can be expected between base LCI M2 and M2 CS (both getting the LCI treatment). With such a 'low' price, the M2 CS would be (very) popular, pushing back 'base M2' sales.

Ha, fancy that: a bargain M2 CS 'stripper' with a loooong list of 'pay to play' options: CF roof, dedicated M seats, alcantara steering wheel, bigger brakes or Carbon Ceramic Brakes, adaptive suspension, dedicated M mirrors, digital speedometer, exclusive wheels, etc. pushing the price in the end from 18% to 50% extra. ...+25% Brexit tax for you, haha.

On the other hand this 18% can be something like Competition Package with some of those items? |

I kinda wish it wasn't the X3M that's going to be the debut for the S58. Almost think it would serve better in the M2CS...guess I still don't feel like SUV M vehicles are real M cars.
Not going to happen, I know, but any other pros/cons to an S55 versus an S58?
