M1&M2 button retrofitting

So apparently there is a kit to retrofit the m1 and m2 buttons for the OG m2, it'll only be able to toggle the drive modes so not exactly the same functionality but it's something.

I am seriously good with whatever mode I happen to have selected

I can think of much better mods worth dumping money into

Cool I guess otherwise

Cool that someone was able to make them work but the red or blue buttons would just drive me nuts, especially when the rocker button on the center console works just fine.

What I'd like is turn off the animated 'car' graphics that pops up ever time you change modes...its so annoying. I can't make changes to the head unit with BimmerCode as I have the full screen CarPlay coded which locks out changes to the head unit (don't actually know if you can code this off with BimmerCode!) I need to check with kubax86 if it can be coded off with esys remotely.

I agree, but I just spotted this and thought some OG m2 owners here might appreciate it.

Yeah I agree, for me the red stops at the start button.

to me the animated car graphic isn't a huge deal because I only see it once, and that is after the car warms up to goes into sport +

You can actually turn that off in I drive settings! Discovered it about a month or so ago. The only one that still animates is "traction" however sport sport plus and comfort do not animate on the screen when changing

iDrive -> My Vehicle -> iDrive Settings -> Pop-ups -> Driving Experience Control: uncheck

Very cool, I'm always an advocate for filling in the missing buttons OEMs leave behind... But I agree this is a lot of work for duplicate functionality.

It'd be super cool if we could repurpose them to our liking, like maybe it could double as buttons for the IDrive, so I can cycle through Maps/TPMS/CarPlay, or make it a controller for the M-Performance valves so we don't have to keep that bluetooth button clicker around.

I'm pretty sure that Bluetooth controller can be converted to your home link if you have it

No kidding?! The homelink buttons that are on the rearview right? I've got my garage door set up on one, guess I know what I'm trying tonight lol.

Thanks for the info.

Wow! My car has been hibernating for the winter; she was supposed to wake up 1 April but it actually snowed in Belgium like some kind of April fools day joke and I was going on a trip anyway so I let her sleep a little longer. It will be about 10 days before I can make that change but I'm so looking forwarded to unchecking that check!

Thanks!

Discovered this myself digging through and agree that it’s so much nicer without. Might have left it if they wouldn’t have half-assed it and used a base 2 series for the graphic.

it looks like they should have black buttons available soon, or you can source your own.

Seems that way. I sent them a message inquiring on availability but never got a reply.

Sorry if this isn't the right place to ask. I just bought a M3 steering wheel that comes with the m1 and m2 buttons. I assume I can just leave those buttons on when I switch steering wheels? Or do I need to put the buttons from my M2 steering wheel on the new steering wheel?

I don't know for sure, but I'd imagine you could just leave the buttons in place and the M1/M2 buttons just wouldn't have any functionality. Assuming the other buttons are the same on the M3 as on the M2.
