I thought it was not a moving violation? If so why did you go to court? How much was the fine?

Normally I don't waste the courts time unless it may affect my insurance ie speeding etc but with this one I was just pissed that she didn't buy my 'great' excuse lol. I just showed the judge a pic of my car with the plate back on and they tossed it. Believe it's a 'highway traffic act' offense in Ontario. |

We are talking parking tickets here right? This is not a moving violation so no points or marks on your record.

Well I haven't been you court over a parking ticket in some time. Maybe they changed the rules..

I noticed something. I driven by tons of cops or sat across them at a red light. No one seems to care.
When I had my s2000 with no front plate, cops usually would turn around and follow me. I think the BMW gives it less attention then a Honda s2000? Anyways hope I didn't jinx it |

I haven't run a front plate in Ontario for about 4-5 years - I pulled up to a ride check last week and they asked where the front plate was - I simply said I would rather pay the 110 dollars than drill the bumper - officer told me to have a nice day and left me alone

I’ve been fine for two years, but all of a sudden in the past month I’ve gotten two tickets for not having a front license plate.
Finally gave up and ordered the bracket. |

I got caught after 3 years of driving my Suby around without a front plate. Early Sunday morning, Milton cop. $110 down the crapper.

Apparently the police don't approve of this technique:

On what grounds? I don't know if you have (or intend to) take it to court, but I would be curious to know what the crown's argument with it is exactly.
They would probably try to say something along the liines of either "it's not the issued plate" or "it makes it harder to identify." Both are really just arguing a technicality, when I suspect that the real reason the cops don't like them is that they don't have a good flat surface to bounce their laser/radar off of to give you a speeding ticket... |

In the city they ticket you all the time for it. I've had 2 tickets and I know 4 others who got ticketed as well. You can have the ticket dropped if you fight it and show a photo proving you removed it but who has time to keep doing that.
