Now where's the reference where we can translate this version to the ISTEP version?

Old thread, I know, but saw a reference to this in general and got curious.

My car is a non LCI week 5 2017.

To make this searchable: 111162.3.213 NBTevoK17052I
Yup, found it today too - Mine:

On my non-LCI

Before (NBTevo H16303I) and After (NBTevo L17193I)

1) Oh yeah - the startup roar! It took me by surprise when I picked up my car. I was like WTF
2) Steering - seems a tad better. Can't explain. A fraction lighter - maybe?
3) When driving in comfort - the accelerator feels more like sport. Much more sensitive than before.
4) Mystery Boost? - It was and still is raining, so any hard driving was out.

updates coming.

Pretty sure my car already does this without the updated ISTEP. Foot on brake. Press start/stop button once. Select sport plus mode. Foot on clutch. Start the engine.

Maybe it will be even louder with the update? No idea i'll have to wait and see.

Then the pops and bangs man, sport and sport + sounds closer to the hidden traction mode. Pops and bangs are way louder.

Glad to hear this. Just made an appointment with bmw. I said the Connected Drive doesn't work and that I wanted the ISTEP updated. They said no problem. Currently have H16303l.

Will update everyone here with my thoughts next week.

My 2017 with MT was updated to NBTevo L17193I yesterday and, sorry guys, nothing noticeable has changed.

Placebo all day long around here. Also, current Telephone and Media versions:

Mine is a Euro spec China market Pre LCI 2016-8 build. All I can find under navigator-setting is this. What version is that anyone can tell?

The biggest change for me is the DCT. BMW changed the shift points in D and comfort mode. ...or something.

The car changes from reverse to (D or manual) mode faster when cold.

If your car is a mid 2017 build you probably have it already.

Whats your build date and previous ISTEP? Remember, I came from an old version, then another version that was from the July Istep which is not nearly as refined. How hard are you driving and in what conditions? Do note that I also have EuroMDM coded so that might have a play..

You and I are were on the same firmware. I think the changes affect the DCT the most - that's where I am feeling it.

Did it fix or speed up the connected drive apps at all?

I have an iphone 7 and AT&T currently and the weather app in idrive took a shit a few months back and none of the other apps work, they just spin a loading wheel endlessly.

Brought it up at the dealer and they're blaming AT&T.

Mine was newer and it was laggy AF, new update mainly fixes iDrive. Some update right after my car in the last 2016 ISTEP build improved DSC / DME firmware forsure.

Just got the car back. Not sure why it took so long (2 days). ISTEP is updated and everything works. Weather app is back. No other changes other than smoother software operation. Don't believe anything else anyone's saying that it changes sound or adds power lol. It's the same car. Glad it's all functioning normally now. Worth doing if you can get it done for free. Otherwise save your $150.

Just had car I-step updated during visit to dealer due to ID5 crashing randomly.

Smoother DCT shifts, sounds rortier on startup and idrive faster and smoother. CarPlay with iOS 11.0.3 now back working as CP stopped working when I upgraded iOS from 11.0.2 to 11.0.3.

Car feels more responsive but need to drive it more in the various modes

I agree with your assessment completely. 400 miles later, I stand by what I said. I don't agree with the guy who said the boost had been increased, but the car feels faster due to the DCT changes.

More observations

Idrive

- boots up quicker
- swaps modes quicker ie switching media sources
- CarPlay faster / more responsive
- ipod classic works fine now - didn't boot up before

DCT Gear changes

- in comfort up- and down-shifts feel more akin to F2x/F3x SAT ZF8spd.
- In sport/sport + - gear changes are faster but feel less brutal

MPE/ASD

- more refined in comfort
- sounds sweeter in sport
- more volume and better tone in sport+ and track mode

are the pops and burbles still there? only asking because it seems like this update is some kind of tune and i know some tunes could remove these beautiful sounds

Update after doing some more miles in my non-LCI July 2016 M2 DCT

Previous I-step (NBTevo H16205I) Current, updated I-step (NBTevo L17193I)

Throttle

- much responsive in comfort
- smoother in sport/sport+
- car definitely picks up quicker [as the yoof in stickered up '17MY Golf R at Claygate crossroads found out on the way home yesterday ;-)]

DCT g/box

- in auto mode - feels much more like the ZF8sp in m135i - seems to cope with traffic/town driving much better - up and down shifts are smoother/more seamless than before
- in sport/manual mode - up and down shifts feel quicker - the 'jolt' on full bore upshifts n sport+ is still there but not as harsh.
