The DONUT guy on the intersection is a GERMAN guy in Stuttgart, the CRASHED guy is from/in Scotland/UK! They are not the same person and not the same car!

Yes they are different cars and drivers
Just to clarify, my post was edited by the Bimmerpost mods.
I replied to the original post containing the German M2 doing donuts. The OP suggested that he was driving like a BOSS. I did not agree and condone what the driver was doing. Regardless of skillz, donutting at a junction with many spectators present is just dumb. Anyone else remember the Orange M4 leaving a meet and ending up on the other side of the highway? It just so happened that the Scottish M2 accident happened the same day (?) and I was highlighting how bad this is. We've all made mistakes and done something we've regretted but the Scottish driver was completely reckless. Looks like several drive bys at speed ultimately ending in the crash. Despite this, I wish both the driver and his passenger speedy recoveries but trust the legal system will hand out the required punishment. If at least one other such driver learns from this thread then its worth it. |

Agreed...
More than likely he overcorrected to avoid the silver car, and this was the results.
The owner of the silver car is truly truly blessed!! |

Luckily, the 20-yr old M2 passenger and 22-yr old M2 driver both survived this horrific crash on a humid road turn amid the woods. No-one else got injured. On the one hand, let him who is without sin cast the first stone. On the other hand, we cannot condone what the M2 driver has done. We simply can't. The videos and images that surfaced, say enough. Let's all hope that no-one ever gets involved in treacherous situations where the circumstances and laws of nature disqualify the driver from 'pilot' to 'mere object' inside a vehicle.

Even though the driver was completely moronic during this drive, lets not forget his age. We ALL did/would have done similar stupidities at that age with that car. I hope he recovers and learns. I for one blame more the lack of training and access to tracks for kids than the kids themselves. I am not excusing his behavior at all, however with better training and eduction a lot of these accidents would be avoided.

I have been very disturbed by this crash, I have figured out by social media who the two people were in the crash. It is a terrible situation. It is fortunate that no one got hurt that was an innocent bystander with the exception of his girl friend who I hope will be okay, but she was an innocent bystander as well. I can't imagine as a parent of three twenty-something year olds how the parents of these two must feel. If I was the father of the girl who got hurt my wife would be holding me back. I hope these videos will remind us all how quickly bad things can happen with our M2's with moderate Hp and torque available in tenths of a second.
I don't mean to bring everybody down but it is disturbing. |

Thanks to people like this, we'll have autonomous cars in no time.
Then BMW will go out of business because it won't be about the ultimate driving machine anymore. But no need to pile on... he knows he's messed up so bad. Hopefully he'll learned from it. |

For christs sake 5 pages of speed demon guys/girls 99% of which modify their M cars cars to go faster, handle better, stop faster most of which demonstrate that speed on public roads and have never even driven on a drag strip or track...
It goes without saying the way he was driving at the time of the accident was dumb. But playing devils advocate. 22 years old ,your still a child. Driving a car which by nature encourages over confidence in the driver... We've all driven fast on the street (Highway or windy road, neither is safer than the other, and neither is OK even places where its legal like the Autobahn) I may be biased being I lost my brother who was my best friend in a tragic accident. He was not a car guy like many of us, but he was driving tired and from the evidence probably way too fast. And because of one mistaken he was taken from myself, other family and friends forever.... If he broke the law which it seems obvious he did he should pay the price. Totalling his expensive car almost killing himself and his girl friend and putting other innocent drivers at risk will hopefully teach him his lesson. But we were all kids once and we all probably share his love of performance cars handling...We;ve all at SOME POINT in our lives drive too fast for the conditions or roads. If you are reading this and you NEVER drove your car in a way that put yourself or others at risk than obviously Im not reffering to you. BUT IDK 5 pages of people calling him an idiot while hes probably lying on life support in a hospital somewhere...Just seems excessive like its the cool thing to do... It goes without saying his behavior at that time was moronic but death affects every one but the person killed...My life will never be the same as suddenly losing my brother was a defining moment in my life that I will never get over.It tore my family apart... I wish the kid a full recovery and hope if he survives without major brain damage he learns his lesson behind the wheel. Sad he had to learn the hard way. People are entitled to their opinions, whatever they may be. I personally don't feel anything for sympathy for him his gf and their families. Again 22, hes a child. Even if my post is unpopular I couldnt read the same post 50 times and not add my $.02

I dont think over-confidence or lack of skill is the root cause here. Attention seeking; that's the problem here. 20 year old with his girlfriend riding along, with folks taking pictures and cheering him on. Of course he wanted to make the front page the next day- "M2 blazing through the streets". I've been there not too long ago. Loved the attention from my bros when I pulled these kinda of stunts on public roads. Reminiscing on those times sends a shudder down my spine. The danger I put others and myself in just baffles me. But, loved the attention at the time. I believe the parents are to be blamed here. Quite possibly bank rolled the M2 too. Why does a 20 year old need a performance vehicle?! If he's the next Max Verstappen then buy him an M2 and only allow him to track it. Let him take out his teenage frustration on a track or karate classes. Parents need to have a sit-down with kids when they get their first car and educate them on the importance of driving responsibly. Quite as important as the talk you give 'em when they hit puberty.
Hope they both live through this. |

Because someday we'll be looking at a video of some guy doing donuts and driving into the crowd shaking our finger going "how could someone be so stupid!" Meanwhile in some other thread cheering on an m2 smoking some Audi on the highway at high speeds.

I'll never understand speeding excessively or spirited driving on public roads. One day your luck runs out and you are going to hit a rather hard object or even worse, another car with an innocent human being in it.
Take it to the track.
