The one thing to keep in mind is that software doesn’t just
change or morph on it’s own. If a new symptom suddenly
arises after a significant period of time without any problems,
it’s likely related to a more recent change to the vehicle, or a
lapse in service and/or maintenance.

“Backfires” is also a fairly general description that doesn’t offer
much info to work with. Feel free to emai our technical dept. to
share additional relevant information and I’m sure we can help
point you in the right direction.

brooke1972, I edited your post as it contained foul language.

Also in the recent past several of your posts got edited or deleted.

1. You seem to consider a lot of criticism as personal attacks. This should stop. Please work on your communication skills. You stand a better chance to get your message across if you phrase your posts in a serene way. Aggressive phrasing will weaken your credibility. It's the same in everyday life: the crowd in a bar may answer questionable shouting by booing and eventually requesting you to leave.

2. Prior to reporting a post to the moderators (as you sometimes do), read again what you have written and try to understand why people replied the way they did.

3. Please do not comment in this thread or by PM that also this post offended you. Reason: see #1 above.

Normal. Most likely

Does it happen when you're very high in RPM Range with a sudden let off of the throttle?

I have VF Stage 2. In Comfort+traction burbels is much enhanced. Sport is not so much changed. In Sport+ burbels is also enhanced, but not so much. Sport+ gives a "sharper" sound and sometimes burbels "bang".
Hope I explain understandable. Overall I like it, even though it maybe is a bit much in Comfort+Traction.

VF-Engineering I called you guys yesterday and waiting on a callback.

I'm running a Wagner catless downpipe and Stage 2 from you guys. Car pulls super hard and am really happy. Have had the car this way for about 1 month.

Past week in Comfort and Sport 2nd, 3rd and 4th gear when WOT the car will hesitate, and feels like the car is holding back, or pulling timing, and I notice sometimes the traction light flashes. I've never had this happen and the car is not breaking loose, especially in 4th gear going about 60mph.

In sport + this doesn't seem to be an issue.

Is this the car actually breaking loose, or an issue with my software? BTW, car only has 3k miles on it, so tires are fine.

Thanks !

If the traction control light is flashing in sequence with the
hesitation, it is very likely a grip related issue. The sensation
you're feeling is the ECU pulling power momentarily to restore
traction, and then power coming back on once grip is restored.

The easiest way to check this is to turn off the traction control
and see if the "hesitation" goes away. Obviously you'll want to
do this at your own risk, safely, in an off-highway location.

Nothing against Rouge, I love these guys, but why didn't you do it yourself? Seems like a huge waste of money.

I agree. Unless he wanted a full bench readout.

Ben did the Hex in my M4... stand up guys. With the M2, we just did the standard port install.

I can get my car to do the "back fire" in second gear. After the car is plenty warmed up...

I have to really get on the gas, rev up above 6k, the let off the gas abruptly.
I think it's just un-burnt fuel exploding inside the exhaust system.

For me personally, I think it's freaking awesome. I drive by a goat farm on my way home from work everyday. On the days that I actually drive my M2 to work, I always hope the goats will be out so I can scare the living crap out of them with my firecracker exhaust noise. I know I'm easily amused, but my M2 with VF stage 2 really can scare goats. YOU should see them run! LOL

I just so happened to run into an a stock M4 today on the highway. He wanted to play, so I obliged. I must say, I was very surprised with how well my car was able to keep up. I don't want to get into this too much, but he had a very hard time hanging with me in this "real world" situation.

Hi,

Can someone clarify for me please, I was just about to order the stage 2 hex tune without the GTS style features (ie no startup roar and no additional overrun burble) but VF have responded saying that the GTS features cannot be removed from the tune, which goes against what was stated earlier in this thread.

Did anyone actually request a tune (and obviously receive it) without the GTS features?

Thanks

I think they are capable of doing so, my original stage 2 download had no burbles, they provided me with a version that did burble

Thanks, I'll email VF again just to double check but by the sounds of it the option to remove has now been taken off the table....which is disappointing.

I purchased their Stage 2 tune with GTS overrun and start-up roar. I later called, emailed, re-called and re-emailed them over the course of a month based on the info in this thread about deleting the Cold start-up roar, only to finally have them respond with a NO when they finally decided to talk to me. I don't use their tune any more since they would not delete the Cold Start-up roar from my tune.

Its a shame because I liked the tune, but the inflexibility of the tune and total amount of time I wasted trying to get a simple answer has turned me off to them as a company. The tune is expensive compared to most, but there is value in a premium if that product comes with support/options. Unfortunately this tune has none of those things.

Buyer beware.

Recent Black Friday Stage 1 purchase. I've emailed them twice. I guess I should just call them.
Very happy with the power, but the startup roar is pretty inconsistent. Seems to only "roar" when the car is warm. Not sure if this is normal or not.
The car actually had a pretty consistent loud startup at baseline before the tune. This is a 2018 LCI with Fabspeed sportcat

I requested and received my tune without the GTS overrun.

Sound like the possibility of fine tuning (no pun) the tune not to include the GTS features is a completely random, I was politely informed "We do not offer any custom variation in our tunes." when emailing VF

yes this is what i noticed, i believe the reason the roar is gone because the tune does not eliminate the cold start, thats one mistake i made when i ordered this tune i was not aware that the cold start would not be removed, not blaming VF for this this was an oversight on my part for not doing enough research

Sounds like all the hate for VF on the M3/M4 forums is starting to make sense. Personally gonna stay away from VF
