1). Is this the German stand-in for Danica Patrick? Only a NASCAR driver could think the M2C is a "light" car.

2). How do you film the M2 in a warehouse, which should amplify the sound of the car, and end up hearing nothing? I honestly couldn't hear the exhaust.

3). Did anyone else get the feeling you were watching QVC? Or a 2:00 AM infomercial? This was pretty cheeeeeeeeeeesy....

So I ended up turning the volume all the way down and just focused on seeing the car - I am really starting to like the HSM in different light, so that's a nice effect from the video.

To answer your 1st question. She is a host on the German TV show Grip, sort of a Top Gear copy. She is a Swiss (from the french region) racing driver.
I agree the video is pretty lame, but Grip is a pretty cool show. About 400 episodes on You Tube, if you understand German.

Back to OT.

SUNSET ORANGE is emerging as the clear winner for me. I struggled with the color choice since they introduced the M2C, or actually since the introduction of the M2. I don't love any of them.

White is generally a good BMW color, due to the Motorsport history, and often my go to, but it does not work as well on the newer cars, beause they have less lines in the bodies. Smoother panels don't cast a lot of shadows which create contrasts. White looked great on e30's, e36's and e46's, but not so much anymore.

HS, same story as white. Does not show off the curves on this car and looks too much like pearl or champagne white.

Black, never again. I don't feel like dusting my car off every day

So LBB and SO are really the only two choices for me. Both show off the cars lines the best. Blue might be more of a BMW color than Orange, which is why I struggled deciding for Orange, but Blue is too common for me on the M2, and it isn't the best Blue there is. So Sunset Orange FTW.

Not sure why SO seems to be getting so much hate here on the forum? Ask any non BMW car person, and most seem to think SO looks great. That is the feedback I am getting from all my non BMW car buddies. They unanimously suggest SO as the color of choice. I have not seen it in person, but based on the pics in sunlight, it looks great IMHO. Only thing I struggle with now, is caliper and wheel color. I would like the M performance wheels, but I hate black and gold might not go with SO. Will they be offered in Anthracite? Will red calipers clash with the Orange?

Or Estoril Blue and Melbourne Red or Mineral Grey. Seaside actually looks close to Yas Marina, so you could be surprised.

The point is to offer choice, make money, and not add any layer of technical complication.

Yas Marina would have been a winner for me, or even Laguna Seca Blue. But I am most disappointed that they don't offer a good silver gray or Nardo Gray. Seems like BMW picked some odd colors for this car, outside of black and white.

They are good at picking odd colors these days.

I have seen Sunset Orange in person and it is terribly dull and brownish in anything but bright conditions. It takes everything bad about Sakhir in low light and makes it 10x worse, IMO.

I used to absolutely love that 'penny' color in my Acura RSX Type S and also the Valencia orange on the 1M but this 'Sunset Orange' just doesn't work for some reason on the M2C or the 240i for that matter..

I need to see this myself in person, as I just don't see how it could be that much of an issue, as the two colors look very similar.
Besides, I live in CA and this car will be mainly my "sunny day" car, so it might not be THAT BIG of an issue that low light isn't the beds color for it. That is probably only 20% of the time I will have the car out.

I'm sorry, not seeing the problem. SO works better than HS, White, and Black if you ask me.

*gah*

I kind of like it....just don't know if I'm taking the color home. I don't want white or black or the shades in between. That leaves SOM and LBB.....

Yeah, I was mainly looking outside the normal 2er Coupé colors that Leipzig currently offers, just to give it something different.

E-Copper is used at the factory, that might be pretty close. Although I doubt they'd use that on anything that isn't electrified.

Yes the M2 Competition was moved to the Olympic Stadium for the BMW Group AGM.

E-Copper exclusive to BMW i8 and i8 Roadster.

That's the best case. I saw it indoors in Spartanburg in bright but not direct light and it was not so hot (in my opinion). I'm sure it pops with sun on it. It was parked not far from a Sakhir Orange M4 and it just came across as a much less sporty color. As much as some pictures may show them to be similar, there is a lot more red in Sakhir and a lot more brown in Sunset.

There are so many good colors in the BMW palette. Why are they limiting the colors across the line to black/white/gray and then some rotation of mostly off colors? I'm sure they don't need a focus group to know they offer a lot of polarizing colors. Almost like it's a strategy to force people into choosing black/white/gray.

This.

Sahara Orange >>> Fire Orange >>> Valencia Orange >>> Sakhir Orange >>> Sunset Orange >>> Sedona Red

Sunset Orange can look as good as Sakhir on a good day.. but as drab as Sedona Red on a cloudy day, as evidenced in the photos on page 1 of this thread.
