I have not compared the DME version between the original 2016/2017 build ( before 2017-03 ) with the new DME version ( I don't have it ) There are subtle coding changes that may affect power output, but it's not substantial.

So BMW called me back. You guys are going to love this.. - they say what I was experienced was the running-in service changes. Yes, BMW themselves claims that the car is running in a "less optimal" state during the first 2,000km. I asked how, they stumbled around a bit and said it simply unlocks its full potential at running-in service and the software update was part of that. - BMW said they weren't sure exactly what was changed but that it's possible software updates can improve the customer experience. That's as deep as it went.

I'm 2017 6MT, so if the update is for DCT or LCI, I wouldn't get it. |

Got it, thanks. I thought all of those would have been brought up to snuff by now but I guess it's taking some time.

I did notice the difference between pre-run-in service and after. 3 things:
-more burble and pops - was nearly absent before -more throttle response -DCT was smoother and less likely to make a jerky gear shift-low speed only |

Mdm gives you burbles on deceleration. Sport/Sport+ give them to you a little on deceleration, and more between shifts; MDM doesnt give you the latter. We dont want to lose ANY of them! Hear that BMW??????

I just looked at the latest ISTEP. There is absolutely zero change on the burble tables from early 2017 to 2018-05.

Excellent.. Thanks for reporting back.. Strange how some folks have reported this, but they seem to be the unusual ones.. Most dont seem to notice any difference, as we'd expect.

Don't know what to say guys... 'Moody' May be a good descriptor. I sincerely believe there is a difference vs my original istep version.. however, seeing myself and a few others seem to be very much in the minority, I will simply have to accept what I perceive to be a slightly quieter car...until I eventually get a DP and tune that is But for what it's worth, it did seem the latest update I received improved upon the previous one. |

Just had the mandatory update done at my first annual visit for the recall, and pops/crackles are definitely still present, if not more amplified. The rev match seems to be smoother as well, no longer jerky if you don't hit it perfectly.
