5 hours w/new M2. Observations and questions.

Purchased M2 from forum member and drove home 5 hours. For reference I am coming from a tuned 2008 135

Observations:
- Overall the car feels great. It feels like an E36M3 handling with E46M3 power.
- Suspension: I little stiffer than the 135. Feels solid.
- Motor: About the same as the 135. Acceleration and top speed
- Tranny: DCT is way cool. It is so smooth that don't feel gear changes. (Sequential not withstanding)

How to questions:
- Turn off control display
- Turn off the ridiculous "efficient dynamics" text
- Permanently enable "sport" mode
- Full list of voice commands

How to questions:
- Turn off control display
---It's there, you can assign it to one of the 1-8 shortcut buttons so you don;t need to dig into the menu each time
- Turn off the ridiculous "efficient dynamics" text
--- The animation when you change or the text in the "black panel" display?
- Permanently enable "sport" mode
--- NOPE
- Full list of voice commands
--- God knows, they all suck, there's no point learning them.
Answers inline. (not all are answers! :P )

If you haven't already, you can download a PDF of THE BMW M2 COUPE OWNER'S MANUAL from:
http://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...ner%27s+manual
See pages 27-28
You can have available commands read out loud for you: ›Voice commands‹
The list for short commands of the voice activation system can be called up via the Integrated Owner's Manual on the Control Display.

I didn't have much time to try out the voice system before I garaged the M2 for the winter. But here are a few 'cool' ones to try out:

Where is the off for the display. Looked at every option in the iDrive.

Searched and read the entire owner's manual. No reference on how to customize buttons. Are you referring to the preset buttons for the radio.

On the "black panel" display I just want to not show the words "efficient dynamics"

Voice commands work fine for me if I knew what they are.

I like the "screensaver" for the iDrive display. It's a nicely style clock and the date underneath. You can set it to how soon you want it to come on.

Using the Voice control button say the magic words:

"Control Display Off"

Hey presto!

You can get an "engine temp" display on the BC, but that's just water temp, not oil. No oil temp unless you get an OBD reader and something like Torque, then you can show Oil and every other sensor under the sun...

Push the button on the end of the stick left of the steering wheel a few times. The mini-display below the speedometer will cycle through a variety of data. I think one of the data points is a fluid temp of sorts....

This is not true. There is a hidden menu you can get to but its not convenient bc you cannot save this setting aka you have to go to it every time you start the car if you want to see these temps, settings, etc

Yeah, I wasn't going to suggest that, it's a ball-ache.

Get a JB4, when it comes on line, you know you're at least at 160

The "engine temp" display using the on-board computer cycling is a combination of water and oil temp. You don't get a number, just a visual indication and text saying COLD or OK.

Pick up a P3 vent gauge, easy install and gives you all the monitor readouts.

If anyone can confirm, on the temperature screen when it reaches the middle needle my P3 display typically reads ~205-215F for Oil Temps. Wondering if anyone else is near that reading.
