Does anyone have any idea if indeed it is a no cost option, the build sheet he sent me says it is no cost, just don't want to be caught with a surprise when I go to pick up the car? Also I assume by hifi sound system that is the 7 speaker sound system the base 2 series comes with?

Also my sales rep says he was able to configure the color and add the executive package.
My rep was able to change the color, but was then told that the car is coming in white - not sure if the changes you made would save. I'' also interested if you can order it with an automatic box?

Because for some, less is more, of course....

I wouldn't have minded less seat, for just one example. Would have paid for that, at least some $.

Manual seats save weight and increase head/helmet room. You can't normally get them in the US, so for the right (tall) person it can be a big deal to get them at all let alone for no cost.
When I have compared powered seats to non powered seats in U.S. Spec 1 and 3 series cars a while back they went the same height up or down. Wont be much weight difference either. I swapped seats in a cayman from the partial powered sport seats to the GT3 carbon fiber shelled seats it was only 75 pounds and alot of that weight was because there were no seat air bags in the GT3 seats. The GT3 seats had no recline function either.

Where are you buying from?

I asked the sales guy later in the day to confirm and he said he was able to choose the color. I assume what he sent me was the configuration he saved.

I don't see why the package would force you to have to have white.

yes I believe the biggest part of the performance package is virtually a lightweight seat option, some have said a version of the old recaro sportster cs with airbags.

Buying in Houston.

My rep called someone further up the chain, who said that it's going to be a limited edition, hence only one color available.

Did you manage to get any other info from your sales rep?

I'm wondering if this is a good limited edition or a useless limited edition lol.

He's got his feelers out. I put my name on this one, with the fallback to go onto the usual M2 wait list if I don't like what I hear!

Can you ask your sales rep if this limited edition with manual seat will continue to be offered going forward like in 2018 model cycle?

I don't think so. I have one on order that just finished production and I ordered the Z08 M performance package that has the carbon fiber bits on it and the MPE. There are two seperate codes in the invoice. Sounds like this is a limited edition M2 model.

I hope there is more to this package than helmet room.

I would bet 10-15 lbs total for the seats. The heating pads are next to nothing and the difference between manual vs. power has historically been ~5 lbs per seat in the M3's.

I've been in a car with manual seats. The seats were identical except for the adjustment controls. You would get weight savings, but not much.

I don't think we're talking ultra light weight carbon fiber race seats without airbags etc. à la Porsche. Just regular manual seats so why the fuss about potential weight saving when the difference if any would be marginal? Most people's laptop bag weighs more than any difference due to manual seats. Any height difference would also be negligible. Sounds like a silly subject.

The package does seem a bit lame, I guess it's an attempt to make the car feel like a 1M or a M4 GTS. Something that's "bare bones" and "track ready".

You could swap out the battery and get more than half of that number alone...Of course that would take out some weight over the rear wheels, and not sure how that would play out...
