Price increase March 1 ?

Saw this on another board. I'm currently in production therefore not affected but as the article states, probably an additional increase is coming...

Anyone else have info on this?

With three months until the model year 2018 switch over BMW has decided to jack the price of the M2. Starting March 1st a new M2 will cost you an extra $800.00 on the base costs.

Really? Why is that? I've never experienced LED before so I wouldn't know.

LED`s on my wife's Ford are awesome, they even change beam pattern according to type of road.

If they're anything like those on the i8, LED doesn't seem as bright as HID, but they are lighter and use less power. Also they seem to cast a purple tint instead of bluish-white which make them seem dimmer. It's not that big of a difference, and under normal conditions you don't notice it. but when it rains, it just doesn't seem to illuminate the road as well.

Although i do love the frickin laser high beams...

Starting at 1:25 you can see the difference between the both.

Looks like they used the parking lights only on the m2. I have both cars and will try to snap the differences tonight if it's not raining.

Or perhaps you can make your own version of that video.

because LED headlights are more expensive? and LED lights are a conduit for maybe future laser lights?

I just watched some YouTube videos about the different lights and I actually like the xenon hid better as they provide more light output. Also wasn't aware about laser lights but those are more for the high beam. Apparently Audi is on top of the game when it comes to lights.

Hilarious. The new LED's on BMW's and MB's I've seen are much brighter than HID's, and provide much better visibility at night and in foggy conditions.

Don't hate on something because you don't have them.

I really cant tell the differences...
They all look the same to me, but I guess the real benefits of LED are beyond just the appearance, is that right (such as better visibility @ night...etc)?

I have the LEDs. They look bright but don't seem to light the road better than Xenons. What is great about them is the cornering lights, well worth the increase in price.

The stock M2 lights are already cornering Xenon projectors.

The hope with the LED units is that if we get those in the US with LCI, they will be re-codeable to operate in Euro-spec mode (which should allow individual segment dimming and all of that fancy stuff).

Back to the original topic though - I can "confirm" the $800 increase to MSRP coming March 1, one of my local dealers had official-looking printout with this claim on it. I unfortunately didn't take a picture so I have no "proof" other than what I saw.

I heard from my sales rep that starting March 1 there would be a 700-800 dollar price increase.

Does the price increase apply to those who have their cars in production already and completing build before end of month?

Not sure, he said he was going to give me the MSRP quoted on the build sheet. I would assume you should be ok if your car is already in production, but I would give the rep a holler and make sure.
