RIP Bridgestone RE-11

My new wheels came in and I went online to order my default go-to tire the RE-11 and saw that Tire Rack and other dealers were out of the size I wanted with no ETA for availability. I called Tire Rack and they told me the whole line was being discontinued when stock is depleted. The only other option is the RE71r. Another fine option but more geared towards the track and less for the street. Kind of bummed as the RE11 was a great tire that performed well on the track but also on the street.

RE71 is just the next version of the RE11. They're both considered max performance summer "200 treadwear" tires (the treadwear number is so important because it was the magic number for the street-tire class in SCCA Solo2 autocross).

TBH if you want streetable but sticky, the PSS that come on the car are a great option. I have PSS as summer rubber on my current car and they have been nearly as sticky as the RE11 I was running on the prior car in summer (although I will grant that I have an extra inch of width on the PSS than I did on the RE11).

RE11 were kinda sketchy in deeper water / heavy rainfall too. I've never felt that way with the PSS. The PSS are now slowly going away though, with the Pilot Sport 4S as their replacement...

RE71 are way stickier and don't last nearly as long. RE-11 were a more medium duty tire than ultra sticky.
