Real? He has quite the following on YouTube and he won an award at pebble beach for his detailing of a McLaren F1. He's real.

Im not questioning the individual- have a learned from his videos. However, his products are pretty pricey relative to my default Adam's products. I'm a chemist and IMHO much of the car care product industry is very similar to the supplements industry with unsubstantiated claims veiled in psuedo-science- just wondering what folks think about the performance of his products vs less boutiquey brands.....

Opinion alert Unless you're speaking waxes or sealants, the other stuff (detail sprays, polishes, etc) seem to work all the same except for smell. The only things that I have found worth being picky about are interior cleaners (matte finish like oem vs glossy ones) and waxes/sealants for factors such as ease of application and longevity.

EDIT: should've added that anything > Armor All

Real. I ordered interior leather cleaner and conditioner from AMMO NYC a while back and used them on my previous car and current M2. The products are quality.

Not arguing about the quality of AMMO products as I've heard good things from pro detailers.

But remember that the M2 comes with Dakota leather. This is a coated leather, and to clean you're just supposed to wipe it down with a moist cloth. You can't really treat or condition it, as the coating prevents the conditioner from penetrating the leather.

Perhaps you should try Swissvax to be "sticker shocked" on their prices vs Ammo.
Btw... Swissvax makes some very good products too.

Hell yes! For those of us who peaked in the late 80's there's nothing like a little Armor All to bring back those fond memories.

I must of used a 5 gallon drum worth of that stuff on my Datsun 510, back in highschool.

Is this the case? I was using Chemical Guys cleaner on it. All prepared to do a leatherique round in the spring. I'll back off and just use water then.

I used to clean my leather with Sonax's leather conditioner + cleaner on my 435i, 740i, X5M, X1... and never had any issue with them.

***X5M is harder to clean properly than the others.

Definitely the real deal - both the products and Larry himself. Larry's just great and always very helpful.

Regarding the products, Boost, Reflex and Skin have been working wonders in the deep Swedish winter; with road grime, freezing temperatures and a lot of salt on the roads over here. So has the M2, for those of you afraid of using it in the winter months.

I use Reflex/Skin on my M2 as I have on my previous car. I let it go for 6 months after applying and it didn't seem to be failing yet before I sold the car. So I will keep using Reflex/Skin until they run out at least on this car as it gives great results.

I would say his end result on his videos is great, but his methods are a little strange sometimes (doesn't necessarily mean bad or wrong).

I personally haven't used AMMO NYC products, so I can't attest to them, but Adam's are the standard for off-the-shelf premium detailing stuff. Unless you're doing some ceramic coatings, or need to cut the paint, Adam's is hard to beat.

What do you find strange, though? I saw through most of his videos, and while I don't follow everything, I didn't find anything particularly strange...

hey guys,

bumping this thread as I have recently stumbled on ammonyc for the first time.

My question is when to use rinseless wash vs hose/two bucket method.

The frother and rinseless products sold by ammonyc intrigue me.

Since no one has replied to you I thought I'd chime in with this :
it uses only 1 bucket but each microfiber towel is also only used once so it is impossible to scratch your paint with contamination (other than what's on top of it).

It's the route I'm going with my M2 as it seems the safest.

As far as when to use I think it depends on the level of clean you need, if a rinseless doesn't remove everything then of course switch to hose/bucket (or if you're 100% rinseless let the stuff soak and keep it wet)
